Default "Stronger" & Akira

http://www.christianmontoya.com/2007...ger-and-akira/

Is it good to get so much from another form of art? I'm not on either side here, I just find it interesting, the similarities. As a admirer of both parties, I could care less, but it seems to easy for people to just add past concepts into their new art. I don't really agree with the way the author of the article tries to downplay Kanye, but I am surprised that so many scenes from Akira were used.

Yea, I agree, in some way, but if you really think about it, how can you be allowed to recreate concepts and ideas of other work and then get the credit for it? I am just speaking from an money-making, business and also artistic point-of-view. It makes it too easy to put your stuff together, put out another single, and get paid and then move on to the next.

Music videos constantly re create concepts from movies and I think as long as it's done well, it's cool.

I see this one as paying homage to Akira and a well done, creative video visually with a new concept, something we seldomly see these days.

When I was about 12 years old I watched Akira for the first time and that **** blew my mind.

man, I bet alot of heads forgot about akira. I did, then when I saw this video I was hyped and it reminded me of how good that anime was. Kanye is remaking the anime in a different form, but didn't straight up take the idea and call it his own. matter of fact, I bet some heads who never saw akira before have an interest to watch it after they saw the video. It's just like when someone redoes a song.

Why is it that Kanye always gets criticised when it comes to this? As if acting like he's the only producer to have sampled someone elses song isn't enough, people now want to claim he's ripping off an entire movie in a 4 minute music video.

If theres one thing that really annoys me about the Rap Industry, its discrediting the nyggas who wanna be original and creative.

Now before the haters wanna come through sayin : How is he original if he just bitin off akira...

Fam, this sh1t aint really been done much in Hip Hop, on a mainstream level. We're always being fed the same old bullsh1t when it comes to videos. When i heard the song, i just knew he would go all-out with the video, and he did : it's typical Kanye West!

he always tries something that he hasn't done before....Kanye's Workout tape?!

You don't like the music? fine.

You don't like the guy? He's too arrogant? Fine

But you can't NOT respect Kanye's testicular fortitude when it comes to raising the bar and being original, in today's rap industry.

Props to kanye man, he's going all out on this one! Respect the hustle.

how can he be original for doing something in HIP HOP by doing something that has already been done in another genre of music?

Daft Punk's song had a sample in it too, it wasn't "original". the akira thing, many movies have been remade in videos for many genres of music, it's not exclusive to Hip Hop. Kanye is not claiming that he came up with the entire concept for the Akira parts in the video, in fact it would be more about him claiming to BE Akira, if you've seen the movie you would know what that means.
