Name conscious rappas who contradict themselves by saying the N word.
Ok, many conscious rappas try to be positive and uplift their people through the use of intelligent and social commentary and lyrics.
However, i find it hard to uplift your peoples if at the same time u are following threads and using the N word to relate to cats in your rhymes.
Like there are high profile conscious cats who tend to be about peace, love and unity, but at the same time will flex their gangsta or street cred in order to show that they are not weak.
We all know the destructive power of the N word.
I have MAD respct for conscious rappas...but i want u to name conscious rappas who contradict themselves by using the N word in they rhymes.
Peace.

pretty much every "conscious" rapper has done that. that's the whole point, i wouldn't listen to anyone who was conscious all the time, people aren't like that in real life. these cats may be conscious, about unity etc but they still grew up in the same circumstances as your average "gangsta" rapper. i would rather hear both sides of the person because that's more "real" than either extreme. most people like Malcolm X etc had both sides to their life, they weren't one way their whole lives & those experiences are what made them who they are/were.
there is no rapper out there who hasnt used the N word
matter of fact.. there is no HUMAN BEING alive who hasn't (black, white, chinese whatever)
Even Eminem says it
Ok, but that doesn't make it right.
If everyone decided to jump of a 60 story building cuz it was cool...would u do it?
but really name conscious rappas who promote positive messages of peace, love and unity, while at the same time flexing their street cred when given the chance by using the N word.

True....ok good post. But there some conscious rappas who hold themselves as righteous and Holier than slice bread, who protray themselves as positive cats but at the same time protray messages contradicting what they intend to protray.
Just name a few.....

i don't understand what you're trying to prove with this thread
even ur homeboy KRS uses the world....people are human.. i hate when n1ggas try to disect dudes doing something positive and tryna uplift cats but never analyze ignorant n1ggas like Jeezy and 90 percent of the south....
n1ggas can't stand for something without gettin hated on by their own people
the pope was a fukkin former nazi.. I'm sure he used it to
its every rapper fool..

u are correct. And actually KRS was the name that popped into my head when i created this thread i must admit.
That's all i really wanted for u to do was to name a conscious rappa according the criteria listed above.
And there is no need to really analyze cats like Jeezy and most of the South because we already know their mentality with respect to social consicous and uplifting rhymes........... its basically nonexistent.
Thanks.

with all that being said
I agree with you that its still doesn't make it right to use that word..
but its been with us forever... and its not leaving... its sad but true I do respect people who don't use it though... I try not to myself but its slips out sometimes
ok, i can respect this honesty and i don't mean to pick on u because others are culprits as well....but why does the word slip out of your mouth?
Me personally, I have never used the word against another human being......and being that....I consider myself a leader and not a follower becasue I think only followers do do and say what others are doing due to popularity.
Again, not picking on anyone...juss trying to understand.

i agree...the only one believable to me is andre 3000...when i met common and was chillin with him...i was expecting him to be preaching the whole time, dropping knowledge....lol...this n1gga was totally different...just a regular street n1gga..thats a cool thing about him though...my n1gga even game him and his dj some weed

c/s. Being "conscious" doesn't mean that you have to be one-dimensional.

that word wasn't used untill whites came to africa, put us on a boat and called us "N1ggers"
then we became so brainwashed that we started calling eachother n1ggas..
passed down from generation to generation... parents passing it down to their seeds
now its something we can't get rid of....
But still... I DON'T think saying the word n1gga is as bad as having PERMED HAIR and bleeching your skin... because its just a word... altering the texture of your hair, gettin a nose job, colored contacts, and changing your skin color is more damaging imo

people arn't proud of themselves anymore
u ever seen that documentary "The N word"? ::: Proudly picks Afro ::::
yeah, i've seen the documentary. Very informative.
U know everything u said is true with respect to how the N word was passed down from generation to generation. I'd just hope the the next generation would become leaders and break the cycle and ban the usage of that word. I doubt this will happen cuz everyone is sheep...NOBODY wants to stand out speak for what is right.
Cats are only so happy to use a word created by the white man to redicule us. Quite sad indeed.
