These are obviously all just opinion. I'm not tryna persuade anybody in one direction or the other. I just felt like posting the shyt.
Halo 2 is better than Halo 1 and both are better than the elitists give it credit for
Halo 2 is better than Halo 1 despite popular opinion. People dog Halo 2 because: (1) It didn't actually take place on Earth, (2) Cliffhanger ending, (3) they nerfed the pistol and (4) health isn't shown. I think casual fans don't really like their games to change so much. It's why Madden is still uber-successful despite our rants. However, Halo 2 improved on the repetitive environments and repetitive gameplay. And the fact that they nerfed the pistol is a good thing
If you don't know by now, an elitist is the type of person that's basically too good to like the popular stuff. I don't mean to offend anyone that I personally believe has elitist qualities (i.e. Juicer
) because I can be the same way at times. But still, I'm gonna call you out. Halo actually has a great story as far as video games. The weird thing is, I see a lot of people praising Free Radical as of late. I'm one of the biggest Free Radical fans around, but you can't knock Halo and go on to praise Timesplitters. Worst story, more significant auto-aim, no jump button, much worse single player campaign (lol @ timesplitters 1 missions), etc.
Ninja Gaiden is better than other games in the same genre
i.e. God of War I & II and Devil May Cry 1 & 3
As I replay NG, the reasons why are extremely evident. Blocking, evading, robust combo system, enemies that actually have strategies and not just beat you with continuous pummeling, more versatile gameplay (puzzle elements, acrobatic elements). I love GoW and DMC but NG is significantly better.
Wii? Meh
I was one of the staunchest Wii supporters and I'm sure I'll still enjoy some games on it just like I enjoyed some games on the cube. But I'm bored. I sold all of my Wii games including Zelda and didn't really finish any of them. I'm this close to selling the Wii itself. I know I'll buy it back eventually so I can't say that I actually will sell it. But at this point, PS3 is definitely more appealing than a Wii.
Wii has the potential to actually hurt true gamers
2 negative wii points in a row? Fukk it. First of all, if Wii soars ahead of both PS3 and 360 in sales we might have a problem. I'm all for a new way of controlling games and having that be the future. That's not what I'm concerned about. I'm concerned that minigames will rule the fukkin world. Low-budget games sold at regular-budget prices is what I'm concerned about. That's not a trend that I want to continue. I can deal with one console that's not as powerful as the others. As much as I've defended the lack of HD in Wii, that doesn't mean that I want every developer to decide they can get away with worse graphics and more minigames.
It also has the potential to really hurt the most hardcore. The thing is, I got 3 light guns and 2 guitars for my PS2 and I want a wheel for my 360. I like these accessories, fukk it, I'm a nerd in that sense. Wii-mote has the potential to be a 50% version of all those accessories in one. Jack of all trades master of none. That's great, but I don't want it to be the reason these 100% accessories begin to die out.
PS3 will most likely be worth the money in 08
This is for both the haters and the stans. NO it's not worth the money right now. $600 for basically one great exclusive? But then again, I didn't buy a 360 until after a year either. But YES, it will be worth the money eventually. $550 + $30 older games + Lair, Warhawk, MGS4, Uncharted = worth the price of entry.
In addition:
- If MGS4 is multiplatform, the PS3 version will be the definitive version, but that doesn't mean the 360 version won't be one less reason to cop a PS3 if you ALREADY have a 360
- Lost: Season 3 might just be better than 1 and they're obviously both better than 2. Either way it's probably the best show on basic cable
- 24: The last leg of this season blew chunks. I've been weary ever since they got the new writers
- Ugly Betty fell off after they won an Emmy and Notes from the Underbelly is dopeness
- Hitch was a much funnier movie than I expected it to be
- I've considered "retiring" from SOHH and this being my last thread. But then I realized the word retiring is corny
- If in real life, you give a damn about "PS3 versus 360", then that's sad. Just enjoy the games you play and get on with your life
