heres my suggestion!

get Reason 3.0 - this program comes with a decent factory sound bank to get you started. You can also load up all of your own drum sounds, samples, etc. There is alot to the program.. but there is plenty of online help for reason.. videos, forums, etc.

For a keyboard I would recommend something from Maudio:

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=...ardcontrollers

That is a link to there Midi controllers - they do not make sounds on there own - they will simply trigger the software sounds within reason or whatever program you chose.

Fruity loops is capable of lots of stuff, but I found it harder to use myself. Pro-tools is used for making music.. but more-so for recording it. I've never used Acid but I know a few on the board do. good luck.

They're all different:

Reason/Fruity Loops are good for bangin out beats, Reason is way better imo but there's people who swear by FL. Just depends which suits your work flow.

Pro Tools is a sequencer, you can put VSTs in there and use it, but ideally if you're gonna make beats with software, Pro Tools isn't the best choice, use Reason or FL.

Acid is good if you f*ck with loops and wanna match tempos and sh*t, it's very good for that.

And for downloading Reason.... I don't have a link, but look into torrents, I'm sure it'll be on one of them sites. Download a program like UTorrent, then go to www.torrentspy.com or www.piratebay.org or something and find it.

I use soundforge to chop samples, and fruity loops with a bunch of drum kits and vsti's for everything else except recording vocals.
