"I ain't mad at Snoop, I'm not mad at Master P. I ain't mad at Hot Boyz - Mos Def
"I ain't mad at Snoop, I'm not mad at Master P. I ain't mad at Hot Boyz. I'm mad when thats all you see. I would be mad if I looked up and all I saw on TV was me or Common or The Roots because I know that ain't the whole deal. The real joy is when you can kick it with everyone. Thats what hiphop is all about. They keep trying to slip the conscience rapper thing on me. I come from Roosevelt projects, man. The Ghetto. I drank the same sugar water, ate hard candy. And they try to get me because I'm suppose to be more articulate. I'm suppose to be not like the other Negroes, to get me to say something against my brothers. I'm not going out like that" - Mos def quote from the book "When rap music had a conscience" by Tayannah lee mcquillar
that's the exact same way i feel. the reason why **** was good back in the day wasn't because there was "more" music like Common & Nas & Mos, it's because there was a balance in the media. in the video shows there was everyone being played not one of the same sub genre. it didn't sound like one big song because there was more variation. i don't have a problem with the d4L's etc (i just don't buy them or listen to them that's it) but to blame them for the state of Hip Hop or whatever is wrong.
i like mos def but he being a lil hypocritical right now. now if i can recall this was the same dude dissing the south about yr or so ago callin lil jon and them a bunch of sambo's. mos is right about balance though aint nothing wrong with that

How is he a hypocrite? He never mentioned lil jon. And the reason he call lil jon that is because his crew was called "Sam" and "Bo". So he's still not a hypocrite. People have been saying this all along, but the media hides it because they can't reveal to the world that they are the ones not doing their job properly.

Again, how does someone from Australia get it and these idiots here don't.

Mos Def does talk out of his a$$ sometimes. He criticized Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz because their names were Big Sam and Lil Bo. That shyt ain't have nothing to do with no sambo and he was reaching so far his arm had to pull out of socket on that one.
Yea i dont mind garbage being around cause wit every food for though there's bound to be trash about but when the majority that's being played in garbage ya content of music becomes a waste landfill
