WWE Raw’s Road to Wrestlemania Tour: Puerto Rico 03/08/07
Location: San Juan, P.R.
Building: Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot
Paying Attendance: 17,477 (new attendance record for the Coliseo of Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot. The previous record was 16,800 for the Smackdown House Show last year).
Plus the promoter (Carlos Colón) also gave 1,000 courtesy tickets for this event.
Lillian García was the ring announcer the whole night and she sang Puerto Rico’s national anthem at the beginning of the event.
1) Super Crazy defeated Lance Cade
Nice reception for Super Crazy, fans remembered him during his IWA run. Cade worked the crowd real well. Overall nice nine minutes match.
2) Cryme Tyme defeated The WGT
Cryme Tyme are very green right now. Hass and Benjamin couldn’t pull the miracle.
3) For the WWE’s women championship Melina defeated Mickie James.
During the whole match James sold her neck problems thanks to the botch huracanrana this pasta Monday. Also during the match, James broke her nose. Melina put her hands on the ropes during the final pin.
4) Carlito defeated Chris Masters
First big ovation of the night (obviously) was for Carlito. He gets the victory with the Back Cracker. In a little homage to his father, Carlos Colón, Carlito makes his father’s signatures moves during his comeback. His father use to do the same moves back in the 80’s for his comeback.
5) “Nature Boy” Ric Flair defeated Kenny Dyskstra via submission with the figure four leg lock.
I believe this was Flair’s first match in Puerto Rico since 1986.
Intermission: Maria throws T-Shirts to the crowd
6) The Hardys defeated MNM
Hardys via pin fall with Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb combo on Joey Mercury. This was the first match of The Hardys Boys in Puerto Rico since January, 2000 when they wrestle Ricky Santana and Ricky Banderas (Muerte Cibernética) in an IWA card on the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan.
7) In a street fight, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels defeated Randy Orton
They fought through the entire arena. Michaels put a trash can over Orton’s head. Also Orton landed inside ring side, courtesy of Michaels. Back in the ring Michaels made a nice blade job to his face two times. In just a manner of seconds he got this crimson mask of blood in his face. At the end, Michaels wins via pin fall with Sweet Chin’s Music.
8) For the WWE Championship and with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat as special guest referee, John Cena defeated Umaga via DQ
Biggest pop of the night was for Cena, no doubt in my mind. Steamboat took his referee bump and Armando Alejandro Estrada hit Cena with the Intercontinental belt when Cena was applying the STFU to Umaga. At the end, Steamboat chops Estrada out of the ring and takes cares of Umaga with the FU.
