Default Lakers should have traded Bynum and Expires for Pau Gasol

To late now. Memphis will probably keep him now and pair him with Oden or Durant. Jerry West said he wanted a young up and coming player and expiring contracts with picks. The Lakers have that player in Bynum ,but there to obsessed with him, that there going to throw away all of Kobe's prime years when they could have gotten immediete help had you offered Bynum.

Watch over the next couple of weeks ,Phil will give more playing time to Kwame over Bynum anyway. After the game in the interview he said Kwame is a lot quicker on the defensive end and we need that right now. Our lineup could have been

C Kwame
PF Gasol
SF Lamar
G Kobe
G Smush

Even if Lamar had gotten injured you still had Gasol who is a 20-10 player. Gasol has been awesome over the last month averaging like 23 points 13 rebounds.

Kwame > Bynum right now. I liked how he attacked strong in the post today on both sides of the ball

The Lakers management need to decide rather we are building around Bynum or Kobe....can't do both.

If around Kobe, we need to trade Bynum/Odom in the offseason for a All-Star big man.....KG/JO/Gasol

If around Bynum, we need to start involving him more on the offensive end more and start building around him now

That looks pretty good, but the contracts still wouldn't have matched up, and we would have had to trade more players to match it. Most of our players were injured around the deadline, and for the most part, they still are.

We could have gotten Gasol without giving up Lamar. That would have been a awesme rebounding tandem with Lamar and Gasol.

This matches. Realgm Trade Checker

Bynum ,Aaron Mckie ,Chris Mihm 1# pick for Gasol

Memphis gets 2 expiring contracts,a young big and a 1# pick.

Mitch isn't a good enough GM to make those type of moves

The problem is Jimmy Buss feels Bynum is untouchable. He is the one who drafted him so he wants to get all the credit if Bynum turns out to be great.

Mitch is not allowed to offer Bynum in any trades because of Buss.

lol I was gonna post this exact thing, but edited it.

I fear the future of the Lakers when Kobe retires. We've been very lucky to go from Wilt and West to Kareem and Magic to Kobe and Shaq.....what's next with Jim Buss running the future? Right now, I don't see anything

Bynum's ceiling is still unknown. I can't blame the Lakers for keeping him around. He could still develop into a constant all-star center.

If Memphis would have taken that...I just can't imagine why the lakers front office wouldn't jump at it...Pau's only 26 himself, so you're trading a big man with potential to be great for a big man that's already very good and who's prime just so happens to match up exactly with your current franchise player...

rename the thread title to

"Lakers shouldn't have traded caron butler the allstar for kwame brown the scrub"

seriously..

C- Bynum
PF- Odom
SF- Butler
SG- Kobe
G- Smush

that alone could've been good enough for a 3rd seed in the west

Nah, I want the Lakers to build around either him or Kobe.
