Default American 360 Games, yes or no?

Does anyone here really enjoy them that much? This may seem like a hate thread but every American title I own on my 360 has either large problems or seriously lacks in certain departments.

After playing Call of Duty 3, Saints Row, GRAW, GoW and Oblivion it makes me question my future purchases, lets take a look shall we?

Call of Duty 3

- Broken MP mode at purchase, almost like they didn't test it
- MP mode fixed months later still with unbalanced weapons and bugs
- Single player mode is totally uninspired and boring; move here, clear area, move there, clear area etc rinse and repeat for the whole game
- The game is way too long and samey to be fun, 14 long levels of the same thing just almost put me into deep sleep
- AI is dumb as fukk in every level

Saints Row

- Another broken MP mode at purchase, didn't work at all, took them months to fix
- Very lame, uninspired storyline
- Unfunny jokes which made me dislike it even more
- Gangs made entirely of fat white guys and chicks?

GRAW

- Unbalanced multiplayer
- Another uninspired shooter, stop and pop for hours
- No comprehendable story whatsoever
- Vomit enducing patriot-soldiers playing electric guitar on their chopper radio while shooting at people
- The WORST controls for a game ever, it feels like you're walking on ice for the entire game
- Huge HUD which takes up most of the play area

GoW

- Very short single player
- Only one single player option, no time attacks or survival modes, so no reason to play it again after insane mode
- Multiplayer full of the same assholes who filled up Halo 2 online
- Multiplayer lacks any depth and gets boring pretty easily
- Only one real multiplayer mode altogether, each mode ends up being the same
- Stupid AI again

Oblivion

- Huge load times
- Poor performance which often ruins the gameplay
- Dumb AI
- Lacks any real "oomph", the game just feels a little dull
- It's too open, there needed to be some barriers or restrictions from the start
- Story is quite boring
- Character dialogue could be alot better

I actually enjoyed Gears, Oblivion and Saints Row, but there's always something which stops me from loving these games. I was playing Call of Duty 3 earlier and whoever back at Treyarch studios thought that 14 huge missions full of shooting nazis would be fun, was very, very wrong.

I own one japanese game (dead rising) and it completely surpasses the other games I have in gameplay and fun without the need for multiplayer, I also have 3 Euro/Canadian games which are all great fun too (SC, R6 and Hitman) and are much longer lasting and are better value for money.

So what I'm asking is; are American games falling off? Or were they not up there to begin with? Here are some games I'm looking forward to and have the most to offer:

Fable 2 - British
Mass Effect - Canadian
Bioshock - American
GTA IV - British
Army of Two - Canadian
Alan Wake - European
Crackdown - British
Blue Dragon - Japanese
Lost Odyssey - Japanese
Kane and Lynch - European
Virtua Fighter 5 - Japanese
The Darkness - European
Turok - Canadian
Dark Sector - Canadian
Resident Evil 5 - Japanese

Where are the big American games other than Halo, Gears and HL2 (all unoriginal and cliched shooting games)?

Thoughts on this? Is the American game industry slipping away or not?

This is a very detailed post but it's also kinda random and still unsubstantiated. European and American development teams are actually a lot alike. The games you're looking forward to are just that. Games you're looking forward to. You don't know how they're going to turn out. You offer no stark contrast for one to determine why European developers may be better than American developers. I'm not bringin in Japan because it's too different to compare. I have yet to play R6 and Hitman but I can list just as many jarring flaws for Splinter Cell.

In any case, games from all regions have their negatives and their positives. I personally love Gears of War and Oblivion and think that despite their flaws, developers should strive to be this good. Western developers die to make games as good as GeoW and Oblivion. GRAW was handled by two teams - Ubisoft Paris and Red Storm. And Saint's Row? It's not like Volition has done anything great before Saint's Row. SR is definitely their best effort yet.

Many American games are alike, but if you isolate any one region and mainly just play their games - most games are alike. You imply that Americans just rehash the same old stuff but then you look forward to games like VF5, Fable 2, Alan Wake, Turok and Blue Dragon.

You just can't ball up American developers and judge them altogether at once. Maybe it's because you're limiting yourself to 360. Twisted Metal, God of War, Doom, Half-Life (which is far from the same old stuff as you seem to claim), Battlefield, Medal of Honor (WWII games may be old now, but when this came out it was astonishing), Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft, Everquest, etc.

I could write up a list like this for any game; this thread is pointless and so subjective

I'm not saying american games suck/jap games are better etc I'm just saying the American 360 titles are very, very bland and only seem to feed the gun-ho shooter fans, don't get me wrong gears and cod3 can be fun online but when it comes to future releases the only ones which stick out are from elsewhere.

yes i do enjoy american games especially graw. graw, imo, is one of the best 360 games of 2006 and the only reason i copped a 360 in feburary. to me the controls are fluid and given that most of the combat take place in a city or rural town of its only logical that it would be stop and pop. if you think american soliders playing eletric guitar music while shooting people is vomit enducing you'll probably have a attack to know that british soliders play punk rock while shooting people.

The dev teams in the US and Canada are mainly made up of Americans, Canadians, Asians and Europeans. They are all very similar, wherever the location.

GRAW was made in France, btw. The multiplayer was made with assistance from Red Storm but the singleplayer/main game was made in France.

I find most American made games (regardless of what system they are on) to be bland, boring, similar and not very fun in the long term and only short term.

And before anyone starts crying i said *Most* not all

European and Canadian games are the best right now, followed by American. Japanese games fell off in a major way, except for Nintendo.

Capcom, Konami, sega, nintendo, mistwalker, Tecmo, ect still holding it down for japan.

As for Europeans i use to rate Ubisoft highly (im a huge splinter fan) for they've gone the way of EA and dropping yearly updates which is getting disgusting.

at 4 splinter games in 4 years, i didn't even care when part 5 was announced as a 360 exclusive.
