That's an old saying. I think that's true for a lot of people, Black people just are less able to afford it to do that.

They used to BEG for my food at lunch, but the 1st and 15th they'd spend hundreds of dollars on clothes and shoes, look good for 2-3 days and beg the other 24 days of the month. We made good money, solidly middle class, and they were spending hundreds more on clothes/cds/electronics when we had some of everything, non-name brand, clearance, some designer, I bought one good pair of say Jordans a year, I wore them for 12 mos +. only bought a handful of cd's a year, but lived good 365 days a year. They'd rather have looked good a solid 2 weeks and begged for rent/food/transportation, I know their parents did because I seen it myself. No car, not enough groceries, no great emphasis on school, but decked out on a gov't check. So it's not a Black thing, and it's not solely an economic thing, it's a mentality thing. That's why you see middle class people living out their means, poor people, Black, White, etc.

..and I always find it funny that ANY negative stereotype or cliche slogan about black people is "100% truth" "Your in denial". But only when its negative.

It makes sense to do it like that, if you can only afford one or the other.

Let's say I need groceries for two weeks and a new pair of shoes. I can just buy the shoes, then get food stamps. If I had bought the food, do you think the government is gonna buy me some Bapes? Beggin on the streets is not gonna put J's on ya feet.

Remeber, I said if you can only afford one.
