WWECW 12/19/06:- Rob Van Dam Defeats John Cena at ECW One Night Stand to become WWECW champion.
- Kurt Angle gets drafted to the brand, but remained unhealthy for majority of his stint there.
- Big Show possibly finishes his career with one of his best years as a worker and as the brands most dominant champion of the year
- Rob Van Damn and Sabu get depushed due to getting caught with marijuana
- Zombie generates a cult following after his unforgettable appearance on ECW's first show on Sci Fi
- Rob Van Dam and Hardcore Holly put on a classic, as Holly ends up needed several stitches due to a severe laceration to his back
- CM Punk's popularity continues to grow, becoming one of the brand's most popular stars and gets a chant during DX's "Are You Ready?" bit
- The Hardy Boyz reunite for a match against the FBI
- Bobby Lashley jumps from Smackdown to ECW to win the title in the Elimination Chamber at December to Dismember
- Paul Heyman and Vince McMahon have a falling out that leads to Paul being released from the company
- Several stars are moved to the brand from other shows, including Matt Stryker, Terkay and Burke, Khali and Daivari, and Rene Dupree
TNA Impact 12/21/06:- Christian Cage debuts and wins the NWA Championship from Jeff Jarrett. Would later shine as one of the top heels in the business; also brought in Tyson "Problem Solver" Tomko
- Sting is signed and vows to remove Jeff "Cancer" Jarrett from TNA, would eventually go on to be NWA Champion
- Samoa Joe dominates, going undefeated for most of the year
- The rise of LAX, including a feud of the year candidate with Styles and Daniels, which also spawned possible matches of the year. Hung and beat Uncle Sam and AJ Styles on live TV
- Jim Cornette comes in as TNA's "new authority"
- Shane Douglas takes the Naturals under his wing and turns them into the Newly Franchised Naturals, but they'd ultimately fail
- Kevin Nash's work with Paparazzi and the X Division, including the PCS Challenge
- Slowly building feud between Chris Sabin and Jerry Lynn
- Kip James and Road Dogg resurface as "VKM" in an attempt to put an end to Degeneration X and Vincent Kennedy McMahon
- America's Most Wanted, billed as the brand's best tag team, split when Storm hit Harris in the head with a bottle during a tag title match
- Abyss defeats Sting for the NWA championship via DQ, has a dark hidden secret
- Austin Aries returns as the flamboyant Austin Starr
- Eric Young becomes a crowd favorite with his chant "Don't Fire Eric"
- Petey Williams sells out and becomes an honorary American
- Bobby Roode turns into Robert Roode, interviewing several legendary managers, but comes in with Miss Brooks
- Raven gathers a group of misfits into the group Seratonin
- Kurt Angle, after a controversial split with the WWE, is signed by TNA and ends Samoa Joe's win streak.
WWE Smackdown 12/22/06:- Dave Bowtista forfeits the Heavyweight Championship due to an injury
- Mark Henry returns better than ever
- Kurt Angle switches brands to win the vacant Heavyweight title in a Battle Royal
- Rey Mysterio wins the Royal Rumble and the Heavyweight Championship in a triple threat match at Wrestlemania 22
- Booker T wins the returning King of the Ring event, assuming the new persona of King Booker. He'd go on to defeat Rey Mysterio for his sixth Heavyweight Championship at the Great American Bash
- Gregory Helms dominated the Cruiserweight Division, winning the Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble and holding onto it for the remainer of the year
- The Boogeyman was injured, fired, and brought back to the company
- JBL retired from in ring action due to back problems, moving on to being one of the most promising new commentators in the business
- Chavo Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio in an I Quit match that would lead to Rey Mysterio's exit from Smackdown
- Fit Finlay returns to in ring action and has a huge impact on the brand
- Ken Kennedy continues to elevate his status, beating multiple World Champions
- Smackdown is responsible for arguably the best matches put on by the WWE in 2006: Angle/Undertaker, Tag Team Ladder Match, Finlay/Benoit, etc.
- Brian Kendrick and Paul London have a stronghold on the brand's tag team titles, competing in several enjoyable matches.
- WWE diva search winner Leyla is brought in
- Former MTV Real World personality the Miz is brought to Smackdown, first as a host, then as a wrestler
- Wrestler Vito wrestles in a dress and panties
- Tatanka, after weeks of frustration, makes a heel turn and is virutally unheard from afterwards
- Montel Vontavious Porter debuts under the name "MVP"
