  • Jim Cornette comes in as TNA's "new authority"
  • Shane Douglas takes the Naturals under his wing and turns them into the Newly Franchised Naturals, but they'd ultimately fail
  • Kevin Nash's work with Paparazzi and the X Division, including the PCS Challenge
  • Slowly building feud between Chris Sabin and Jerry Lynn
  • Kip James and Road Dogg resurface as "VKM" in an attempt to put an end to Degeneration X and Vincent Kennedy McMahon
  • America's Most Wanted, billed as the brand's best tag team, split when Storm hit Harris in the head with a bottle during a tag title match

  • Mark Henry returns better than ever
  • Kurt Angle switches brands to win the vacant Heavyweight title in a Battle Royal
  • Rey Mysterio wins the Royal Rumble and the Heavyweight Championship in a triple threat match at Wrestlemania 22
  • Booker T wins the returning King of the Ring event, assuming the new persona of King Booker. He'd go on to defeat Rey Mysterio for his sixth Heavyweight Championship at the Great American Bash
  • Gregory Helms dominated the Cruiserweight Division, winning the Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble and holding onto it for the remainer of the year
  • The Boogeyman was injured, fired, and brought back to the company
  • JBL retired from in ring action due to back problems, moving on to being one of the most promising new commentators in the business
  • Chavo Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio in an I Quit match that would lead to Rey Mysterio's exit from Smackdown
  • Fit Finlay returns to in ring action and has a huge impact on the brand
  • Ken Kennedy continues to elevate his status, beating multiple World Champions
  • Smackdown is responsible for arguably the best matches put on by the WWE in 2006: Angle/Undertaker, Tag Team Ladder Match, Finlay/Benoit, etc.
  • Brian Kendrick and Paul London have a stronghold on the brand's tag team titles, competing in several enjoyable matches.
  • WWE diva search winner Leyla is brought in
  • Former MTV Real World personality the Miz is brought to Smackdown, first as a host, then as a wrestler
  • Wrestler Vito wrestles in a dress and panties
  • Tatanka, after weeks of frustration, makes a heel turn and is virutally unheard from afterwards

None of the brands took the lead and ran with it. All of them had their bright spots and their low spots. Well, except ECW. All of ECW was bad

True. I just liked Smackdown the most from beginning to end. Bowtista forfeits the belt relatively early, doesn't really get it back until later in the year.

Raw was dismal - Edge held it down though. ECW is just awful. TNA has been up and down - finished on a good note though. But I like Smackdown's consistency. I feel like they did the best job with the storylines and in-ring.
