he fiancee of 24-year-old Sergeant Yevgeniy Ryndych received an engagement ring from her husband-to-be within hours of the Defence Department announcing that he had been killed in Ramadi, Iraq.


According to Yevgeniy's brother, Ivan, the deceased soldier proposed over the phone several weeks back and purchased an engagement ring online.


The young soldier had volunteered for a second tour of duty in Iraq with his special-forces unit saying, "I don't want to leave them behind." The flag outside his family's home flew at half mast and photos of him were displayed in the house.
