Default *Review* King Rod's Opus "The Crown" im raising the bar with this one

First of all, don't name your file you put on rapidshare rod.rar...I don't want people to be looking through my transfers and seeing I downloaded rod.rar. Name ya **** correctly B no homo.

Second of all, can you at least name the mp3 tags to match up the tracklisting name? Thanks

1. Many Deserve Death :10 - WTF IS THIS, JUST DROP IT FROM THE ALBUM. A 10 second intro? Why not just put this at the begging of a song that has yet to be done this year....a down south jam with refferences to crunk and *****es!

2 .Get Buck 3:33 - Or as I call it Lil Jon F. Lil Crappy - Get Buck...not feeling it cuz its on some generic Southern Hip hop ****. The drums dont even knock hard enough to try to accomplish what you want....*****es dancing. The only thing crunk I want to do is bend the crunk juice can into a ghetto knife to stab my stomach.

3. So Many Ways 3:00 Feat. John Beats - Couldnt find it...Or did I hear it? God I dunno the **** is up with your album rip B

4. un leash hell :04 - LEAVE THESE OUT SERIOUSLY. Uncalled for.

5. what’s beef 2:42 produced by SOHH's Mr. Dilligence - I dunno cuz I dont know if you didnt include this or it is named funny so I cannot find it in winamp. Not a good look as far as being professional. So I don't know what beef is. I do know e-beef...its when a cracka and a **** make paint covers hotter then your own.

6. As Time Goes By 3:56 Feat. Cizar & Red - This is actually mixed better then most of the other songs. The beat is not drowning you guys out. A little menancing piano beat, not too complex but it works. Hook is catchy but you should have just repeated the first part IMO. Dood whats with the little sound effects? DAWG YOU DO NOT HAVE A TIGER GROWL IN THIS TRACK LOL Im sorry but the tiger is the last straw...you are making Cizar and Red look like Siefried and Roy, dont play them like that. Track is aiiiiiiiiight.

7. The challenge :18 - Are you trying to **** up a flow of the album, all these are so random. It would be like making a cover with revolver bullets, a tiger, a chess board, a river, and an ak-47 flying in the sky.

8. Prices 3:26 Feat. Maverick - Warren Sapp is on the hook, SOHH if you dont believe me download the track! Rod stays connected. Not bad, not good. It is what it is. This is a hood track about killing snitches leaving them in stitches stealing their *****es........R&R raise the bar car star mars bars in jars. youknowhatimeanknowwhatiamsayin

9. I could Blow :06 - NO HOMO So if someone saw I downloaded rod.rar then went to see the folder I extracted it to say 'I COULD BLOW'....ya, I wouldnt even keep this album on my HD if it this was your illmatic with this naming convention. Dont worry about bootlegging, internet groups dont even want to be caught ripping this in fear of looking like gay porn pirating ring. AGAIN, put these at the end of the previous song they dont need to be their own tracks.

10. Get Some 2:54 produced by SOHH's Mr. Dilligence - Dunno what you are trying to say or want to say. **** is scattered and you keep rambling on. There is no punchlines, no word play, no clever rhyme patern, no puns/play on words, nothing. IMO the beat and your voice/flow just did not hook up like mya and 50 cent. 1,0000000000 guys start vietnam by dropping bombs. Rap about tigers or chess...people havent rapped about chess in a while

11. Sick (s rules) 4:42 - Okay you guys def jacked the "idea" for this beat from another song but I cant put my finger on it. Fess up. Only difference is you flipped the very end of it before the drum patern starts again. WOW, why even have a beat on this one? I heard a guy yelling with someone playing a beat 30 miles away off their cell phone. Quit stacking grips to get tiger ten-a-ments and learn that there should be a harmonic balance between yourself and what you are rhyming over. This is chess not checkers.

12. Dangerous 2:32 - Intro makes me feel like I'm Mario and I made it to King Koopa, er I mean King Rod's dungeon of fire breathing tigers. Two time flow, I think? Nah, King Jigga? Couldn't be. Your own flow was too much for you B and you had no breath control. Kinda like a retarded kid running down hill, he gets to the point where he cant stop himself and he stumbles.

13. Real **** 4:50 Feat. Rio Grand & Red - ehhh, decent if this is the song I think it is.

14. Pass 3:42 Feat. Rio Grand & Red - I said this earlier yesterday, Master P did this already and his hook sounds better PASSS ME THE WEED I NEED SOME GREEN WITH MY HENNSEY There is no Detroit in Alabama. Too down south to sound like a Detroit record. And yes i smoke weed. To borrow from Pac 'big rod is broke and I smoke daily'

15. crush your enemies :12 - Dawggy no, just put this at the end of Pass once the beat ends.

16. Army full of soldiers(r&r version) 5:33 Feat. Mav, Rio & D

17. How it goes 4:24 Feat. Mav & Dolo produced by SOHH's SUNZ - I like the beat! Yet you are much too loud over it, again. At least here I feel like you are trying to say something, like an explanation of you and your boys getting ready to go out or party.

18. What the fukk you Think! 2:27 Feat. Cizar - Your going to kill someones online history? Cuz god sent you to destroy thee? The song was 1:27 seconds long for me as I changed it quick. The begging reminds me of a Ras Kass song where you are talking but you couldn't spit like Kassy which is why this track is average at best.

19. Just Shine 3:17 feat. Young Chan & Bigg Sexxy - I guess this is your track for the ladies...I dont like these from pros like 50 cent so Im not feeling this one. The girls you are trying to nail in the D shouldnt have been put on the track so you can holla at em.

20. Where I’m From 4:45 feat. Pimphizz & Trife The Messenga - I am assuming this is what you named "WHere Im At" on the mp3 tag. I like the Michael Myers Halloween beat with the Oakland influenced deep bass/drums. Sounds to me like you were listening to Too Short before you wrote this talking about Macks and all that. This track is cool, mixdown is bad though which ruins this from being a keeper.

21. The Crown 3:34 feat. Mav - Cant find it this is annoying

22. fight! :04 - These little 10 seconds 5 second clips make me want to fight you

23. Ridahs 4:03 Feat. Mav - This 'ridah' song wouldn't even scare my 80 year old grandmother if you were bumpin on her old folks home block. Certified WIFF. The dood who comes on last rides the beat decent and sounds much better over it then you do. A bootleg Rick Ross if you will. Put that guy over some production from SUNZ! Just him.

24. Darkest Hour 2:43 produced by SOHH's Jimmy Conway - Okay SOHH's Jimmy Conway better not put Goodfella samples of Jimmy Conway on all his beats but dope name regardless. Aside from that, beat knocks and the vocal sample is flipped well. Did you pay dood for this beat? Really feelin it. At parts you sound good on it, at times the flow sounds a little lacking and forced. I think you could kill this beat if you approached it with a different flow. Still one of the better tracks on the album. Magically it sounds mixed right the beat and your voice arent battling each other for the persons ear.

25. Reminisce 2:27 Feat. Red produced by SOHH's War Word(Jordan Davis) - I think if this was mixed down a little better and you switched up a few lines that sound forced and this could be a DOPE track. Concept and idea behind it were cool. Best song on the whole damn album. War Word hooked up the beat mos def and it sounds like you actually took time on this.

26. Accept the Crown :04 - WHOS ****ING IDEA WAS IT TO BREAK THESE UP SEPERATELY

27. Sorry 5:03 - Sorry but the Flow was off and your too loud over the beat. Not sure who mixed this down but they did a poor job or had poor equipment to work with. Not feeling this.

100% unbias review, anyone else who reviews it will say similar things I guarentee. Ill put 3 free beats up for Big Rod if someone on SOHH says I am lying just to be an asshole. Probably will never come to Detroit. I know you guys care about crackas lives like album art, you just dont give a **** so Im not tryna get merked by Marv cuz he sounds like a broke ass Warren Sapp. I don't want your tiger to claw the **** out of me for my sarcastic remarks either. You won tho cuz I took time out to review this album. Holla @ me about some new art, I can hook you up seriously, I bet youre pitching big rodopoly to milton bradley as we speak. I forsee the tiger piece being a sleeper like the thimble in monopoly.

Um...thanks for the review but you missed the whole damn concept of the album. The intro parts are all taken from movies based around royalty or the battles for kingdoms. You obviously didn't read anything I posted about the concept of the album. That's what annoys me about you internet dudes. And I don't know what's wrong with your download but all the tracks are there. Just verified it. And for you to be a serious reviewer you sure do include a lot of sarcasm and off hand remarks about where I'm from, my money etc...sound like you are a lil disgrunted to me. Never do reviews for real or some artist might "wu-tang" that ass. And you didn't pay much attention because take for instance this
23. Ridahs 4:03 Feat. Mav - This 'ridah' song wouldn't even scare my 80 year old grandmother if you were bumpin on her old folks home block. Certified WIFF. I rap last, idiot...
You mention broke several times...why
and you say mav sounds like warren sapp. when has warren sapp ever rapped?
And the lyrics to just shine have nothing to do with females. Listen again.
I'm not mad at you for reviewing but I really don't think you were LISTENING. You just skimmed through so you could come back and get a few chuckles with your SOHH buddies. That's what pisses me off.

Might as well post all the ones I get in this one. Matter of fact I'm going to post yours in my thread as well. At least I know this cat took the time to actually listen

1. "Get Buck"
Drums is good, melody is a bit repetitive - you should change up the keys more, lyrics fit the vibe but the flow seemed off beat on a few parts - maybe try not to fit so many words in the chorus.
Grade: C+
Had me bouncin', but the replay value won't be high unless you switch up those synth keys up more.
2.. "So Many Ways"
tight drums, melody switches up more on this one which is good, seems more layered, lyrics don't really stand out mainly cuz the multi-voices aren't in sync which creates this confusion that doesn't ride the beat as well as it could.
Grade: B-
Good up-tempo vibe which suffers from disorganized vocals which again are a bit too wordy for this style of music. Cut down on the number of words and focus on riding the beat.
3. "What's Beef"
on this one, the melody is tight but the drums are a bit bland - don't hit as hard as the first two, needs a fluid bassline to compliment those chimes, lyrics on this one stand out a bit more and the flow finally fits the vibe.
Grade: B-
4. "As Time Goes By"
Nice sweeping drums, more of an east coast rhythm mixed with a west coast vibe, melody is simple but effective - the added piano chords are a nice touch, much better bassline, best lyrics so far and you guys seem more comfortable with this style of rhymin'
Grade: B
I think your voice and style is better suited for an east coast sound. If you want to ride down-south beats - I hate to say it - but you're gonna have to simplify your lyrics even more and make beat riding your focus. You can NOT be off beat on southern beats - since they are essentially dance songs and require the vocals to act more like an instrument that matches the tempo. Your lyrics didn't blow me away - but it's 2006, and sadly nobody cares about lyrics anymore, so it's not as important what you say as it is HOW you say it. Experiment with your voice a bit...try out a different pitch because I think you should rhyme with a deeper voice to match the grit in your vocals.
I see potential and really respect your hustle....best of luck.

A listener shouldn't have to read a message board post to understand the concept of your skits... I skipped thru a few tracks and agree w/ Westkoast's review

sure you do. name the tracks or keep it moving. And if you didn't read or open your ears then how else would you understand a conceptual album. would you rather I told a story at the beginning? you cats are now started to irritate me because y'all full of sh!t. hate me or whatever but at least open your damn ears when listening. and don't listen to my sh!t on your 2 dollars computer speakers...burn that sh!t and play on a real system before you start talking about weak drums and basslines and bad mixes and sh!t. Stop it.

noones singling out your skits....im talking about in GENERAL...for instance trae from guerilla maab usually has little dumb skits on his cd....4 seconds saying "guerilla maab for life"......the fuk is the point? i havnt peeped this cd so i dunno how they flow into the cd....but like dude said, u coulda added em onto the end of certain songs instead of bloating the cd with skits

the most obvious case of this is mannie fresh solo cd....bout 29 tracks....19 of em skits........shorten em up

u cant be getting mad at critiscm when u asked for it to be reviewed....

I'm not getting mad but come on just like you just said. You have not listened to know how they fit into the album so how can you co-sign this dude. Even if I added them into the end of songs they still would be 10 sec skits. what's the difference? It's about 6 skits which average about 10 secs. An extra minute is bloating...
I'm an intelligent person and expect intelligent speak. Ignorance annoys me not criticism. Prince Paul's album had about 10 skits pulling it all together. Sticky's "black trash" was the same way. Countless others.

I am not going to do a back story on your album nor did I sit and read the concept of the album. I don't do it for any albums I listen to save Mr. Lif. Popped it in, listened to it, and put the review. This is what kills me about Internet doods who put out albums, you want people to get all into your ****. Sorry.

And I don't know what's wrong with your download but all the tracks are there. Just verified it.
Maybe they are but all the mp3s are tagged wrong so you don't know what track is what. Some of the names on the mp3 tags are not even exactly the same as the track listing. So dont blame me, blame yourself for not properly tagging those mp3s. Even if I wanted to burn the cd I couldnt with out having to go down each track, re name it, and match up the time to verify its really that track.

And for you to be a serious reviewer you sure do include a lot of sarcasm and off hand remarks about where I'm from, my money etc...sound like you are a lil disgrunted to me.
Dawggy do I work for the Source or XXL? No. I am a random dood on the internet who reviewed your album. Why would I be disgruntled? I dont have a vendetta against you, quite the opposite seeing as I spent an hour off my free time listening to this album and writing my takes on the track.

Never do reviews for real or some artist might "wu-tang" that ass.
I dont give a ****, if I dont like someones **** I am not going to lie in fear of getting wu-tangd. If someone is not feeling your ****, they are not feeling your ****. You wanna whoop me in the D, its all gravy, thats not going to make your music any better to me.

I rap last, idiot...
Then you sound best on the track, the mix downs are horrible so its hard to tell who is who.

and you say mav sounds like warren sapp. when has warren sapp ever rapped?
On wildin out Dood sounds like Warren Sapp.

And the lyrics to just shine have nothing to do with females. Listen again.
The first verse sounds to me like you are talking about or to ladies.

I'm not mad at you for reviewing but I really don't think you were LISTENING. You just skimmed through so you could come back and get a few chuckles with your SOHH buddies. That's what pisses me off.
SOHH buddies? I have no buddies on SOHH. And I did admit some of the tracks I skipped because it wasn't mixed down right. If I can't hear the beat and I can hear 2 guys rapping REALLY loud, it doesnt sound like a song to me. It sounds like an accapella group with no harmony.

You are pissed cuz I didnt give it rave reviews. Sure I added sarcasm in, who was going to read an entire page review for an album from an artist they dont care about? You gotta keep people interested around here. I gave you props on songs I liked and told you the songs I didnt. You asked for people to review and I did.

And no, the "skits" did not flow with the album. I hear a weed something anthem and then the song stops, the song changes, and then there is a random ass sample about crushing enemies for 5 seconds? If this would have been at the end of PASS and then the next song started right away, cool. If you burnt the CD youd know that there is pauses as the CD changes tracks and it ****s up the flow of the album.

Exit 9mm is right, alot of peope do this and it doesnt flow. You are not the only one. I was just listening to Crooked I and Dj Skee's mixtape and he has a skit in the middle where he is asking a chick how she sucks a **** then it goes to the next song, it breaks up the album and ****s with the flow.
