we got out to annie's about 5pm on friday. the place was steadily getting packed. 2mex, louis logic, hanger 18, murs, akrobatik, jugganots, casual, c-rayz, brand nubian, big daddy kane, and pigeon john all performed. everyone of those cats killed it, but casual and jugganots ****in bodied the stage. amazing. the emcee prelims also took place on friday, they were horrible. there was literally about 4 cats that were worth the time we stood there to listen... aside from that, friday was a great day. the beer was $5 friggin bucks each, and i had about 15 through the course of the day... so needless to say we spent a lot of money. long ass day out in the heat too.
saturday we arrived around 4pm and went straight in to watch the beatbox battle. WOW!!! probably the most impressive **** of the whole weekend. snuggles, beehive, tom thumb, etc. were INSANE!!! the dopeness we saw during that event was worth the price to get in w/o a doubt. the b-boy battle was pretty damn dope as well, but after seeing the beatbox kids there wasn't much that could top that ****... we chilled inside and watched most of the b-boy battle on the flatscreen in the building. annie's is a great venue. we missed a lot of the dj battle due to chillin with the damn near 20+ group of people from the ville that made the horribly treacherous hour drive to cinci... i kid...
finally glue came out and adeem blew the crowd away. this dude has ungodly, wicked, stage game. this is the forth time i've seen glue, and it was possibly the best show yet. next came none other than BROTHER ALI!! what can i say? the dude has gotta be one of the best performers ever... yes ever. the level of
energy he brings to the stage is just mindblowingly insane. i consider myself very blessed to have been able to witness ali's show 5 times now. there aren't enough good things i can say about his talent.
finally around midnight we got to see the emcee battle. the actual battle was much nicer than the prelims. reef the lost cauze, deuce leader, thesorus, mic illz (sp), etc. all had great showings... i was pretty drunk by the end, so my memories will have to be youtubed back into my head.
overall it was a great weekend. we spent WAAAY too much money, and i drank WAAAY too much beer and yager. but aside from that it was great. also got to meet a lot of people... including my homie thewristhiphop.com (shameless plug), big bad vanderslice, chilled with okwerdz quite a bit, met dibbs, chilled with adeem again, talked to brother ali, c-rayz, met ANT, etc. good ass times.
anyone that didnt roll ya'll missed some ****... peace
