3rd Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors line up is CRAZY!!!!!! (cube, rakim, wu, lyte, more...)
Ice Cube has been named the latest honoree for this year's "VH1 Hip Hop Honors."
The event, which kicked off in 2004, pays homage to icons of the hip-hop culture through performances from today's talent.
Other artists set to be honored at the 3rd annual "VH1 Hip-Hop Honors" include the Wu-Tang Clan, Afrika Bambaataa, MC Lyte, Rakim, the Beastie Boys, Eazy-E and Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons.
Last year's "VH1 Hip Honors" featured performances from Nelly, Snoop Dogg and Ludacris and honored LL Cool J, Ice-T, The Notorious B.I.G. and Big Daddy Kane.
The 3rd Annual VH1 Hip-Hop Honors will be hosted by Ice- T and will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on October 1st. The event will be broadcasted on VH1 on October 7th at 8 pm EST.
yeah other than the fact that VH-1 DOESN'T HONOR hip hop in any way shape or form, but once a year, and then they don't even play hip hop videos. BET as an institution does 1000x more for hip hop than Video Hits one, no matter how bad the network is now.
we go thru this every year but you whiteboys and sellouts can continue to support vh1's virtual rape of the hip hop culture-post-eminem if you want.

I feel where you're coming from...but it's still a chance for me to see some of my favorites get some long overdue respect. It might not be a perfect situation...but they deserve a hip-hop honor.
I'm waiting to see what BET does w/ their "hip-hop awards". Don't let it be on some bullsh*t!

Then again, I don't think it'd be fun to stick around and go last.

Its 2006....Everyone is raping the culture.
I support the show because I wanna see the "Legends" that paved the way get honored...Having their songs performed by current stars and getting to perform themselves..Did u not see Big Daddy Kane kill it on stage last year?? Shyt was amazing..

U do know Viacomn owns MTV, VH1, and BET right? Yer supporting Viacom regardless, the channels are used to target demographics.
MTV young America in general
BET young Black America
VH1 older heads.
every single BET awards has been better than Video Hits One Hip hop honors, especially the last 2 BET awards
Well, apparently now BET is going to start having a seperate Hip-Hop award show...come to think about it, I hope they don't use that as an excuse to not have hip-hop in their "normal" BET awards program...hhmmm.

and yet VH-1 doesn't play hip hop videos or anything of the like outside of eminem and maybe 50 [formerly NELLY but he's not it right now]
i guess their voice on honoring it should be heard though.......
