*Uh oh. This is not good. Producer Dallas Austin in prison ... in Dubai. The man behind hits for TLC and other stars, is accused of transporting drugs into that country, according to the NY Daily News. Reports say he was on his way to Naomi Campbell's birthday party, which happened last month.
Campbell's b-day party was celebrated over a 3-day period at the Burj Al Arab hotel. Her boyfriend, Dubai oil heir Badr Jafar, rented out a large section of the ultra-expensive hotel. Each day had a theme: "All White," "Hip Hop" and "Brazilian Samba."
Being caught with drugs in an Arab country is not a smart move. And yes, you guessed it. Dubai, which is a member state of the United Arab Emirates, has strict drug policies and a reputation for a stern justice system. The country has been known to levy death sentences, albeit in extreme cases, for convicted drug traffickers. Even possession of small quantities of various drugs can result in lengthy jail sentences.

Here is an update on the status of producer Dallas Austin. As you may have heard, allegedly, Dallas was detained by the Dubai authorities last month for, allegedly, transporting illegal drugs into the country. The official story from Dallas' camp is Dallas was in the Arab country on vacation and also to attend model Naomi Campbell's birthday bash last month. According to Dallas' close friends and associates, Dallas was not arrested or charged with transporting coke into Dubai. Rather, he lost his passport in Dubai and is now vacationing in London while he waits for immigration to issue him a new passport. My sources tell me they have been in touch with Dallas by phone "daily" and they blame rumors of his arrest on "haters". I'll keep you informed of any new developments.
