i don't about the dude comment you we're quoting either, but in most cases artists make most of the money from other ventures and doing shows/tours. its really only the big stars that can cross over that make all that money from albums. the roots i remember off hand doing sell a lot of albums in the sense of people like 50 cent and others in that category, but they tour like crazy and make very good money from each show
