Rzareactor's review of Warren G's debut album on def jam (GOOD READ)
Reviewer: Yi, So Yoon "G-Funk Lover" (Seoul, Korea) - See all my reviews
After Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's great success, a lot of rappers tried to follow their G-Funk styles in many ways. And Warren G who's one of the cousins of Dr. Dre improved it with his debut album. Unlike the hard gangsta G-Funk, his G-Funk is very sweet and comfortable that everyone can enjoy it. This album went 3-platinum and became one of the most popular G-Funk albums ever.
1. Regulate (5/5) - Classic. Nate Dogg featured on it. It was ranked 2nd on the Billboard Single Chart. Great sample from Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin'".
2. Do You See (5/5) - Another smooth G-Funk track with Nate Dogg. Warren G raps about the old days in Long Beach hanging out with Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg.
3. Gangsta Sermon (N/A)
4. Recognize (4/5) - Twinz featured on it. Actually it's kinda gangsta, but may sound a little bit boring to those who're not deep into the G-Funk music.
5. Super Soul Sis (5/5) - Warren G doesn't rap on this one. Instead of him, Da 5Footaz do. Contains a sample from One Way's "Don't Stop".
6. '94 Ho Draft (N/A)
7. So Many Ways (5/5) - Classic. Wayniac of Twinz and Lady Levi featured on it. These 3 rappers drop some bombs on this typical smooth G-Funk beat.
8. This D.J. (5/5) - Classic. One of the most comfortable songs on this album. Features O.G.L.B. but he doesn't rap. If you want to relax, you really have to listen to this song.
9. This Is The Shack (5/5) - Actually it's not Warren G's song. It's The Dove Shack's song which was produced by Warren G. Also available on The Dove Shack's debut album "This Is The Shack".
10. What's Next (5/5) - Lil' Malik featured on it. He's much better than Warren G on this one just like he did on Snoop Dogg's "Pump Pump". It's a great gangsta track.
11. And Ya Don't Stop (5/5) - Warren G raps well on this addictive beat. Contains a sample from Don Julian's "Janitzio".
12. Runnin' Wit No Breaks (5/5) - Jah Skills of Da 5Footaz and Twinz featured on it. Every rapper on this song raps crazily and the beat is very addictive.
I'm Korean who's only 15 and recommending this G-Funk classic to everyone. This album will make your ears hot.

Me too man, but '94 and Regulators was the end of that era for me. I bought a cd player and Warren G's album. It was the only isht that got play for like a month or two. Then I copped Creepin' On Ah Come Up for my 2nd cd, and those were basically the only things getting play at my house for all summer.
How long did you continue the madness?
First copping cd's in '94 was pre-historic as far as I can remember. I was one of the last to make the transition. I hated the idea of having to re-buy all my cassette collection.
