Default Pre workout Protein intake

I train around 10h30 pm every night coming back from my job. I take protein bars at least 45 minutes before going to the gym. Are they as efficient as protein shakes?

Yes and no. Sure protein is protein but the delivery and actual quality are big factors. When taking protein pre-workout (and post for this matter) stick with actual shakes, and if possible a WPI shake. Bars are expensive, sometimes taste like sh*t, are loaded with sh*t you don't need, and sometimes the protein itself is sh*tty.

Focus more on eating some complex carbs throughout the day so that your muscles store more glycogen to fuel your muscles while you workout. However a protein shake pre-workout helps out a lot too. The BCAA's in protein shakes is what actually makes the shakes so helpful so if you want to take just BCAA's pre-workout its cool.

Instead of buying bars Im better off buying natural food at the grocery store right.

pretty much. Im not to fond of protein bars as well I seriously have not found a protein-bar that tasted good. But anyway just stick to Whey protein shakes for pre and post workout. If you're bulking try and follow the "1g(1.2g) of protein per pound of body weight" rule. Also try and take Casein Protein right after you wake up and before you go to bed.

Here's the main problem though. I work 2 jobs so I need ready to go food. I try my best not to eat fast food but its hard. Instead of protein bars and stuff what can I buy at the grocery store that would equate about the same amount of protein?

Tuna cans, fish, lean beef, chicken breast, oatmeal,eggs/eggwhites, rice, pasta, potatoes(not frie),vegetables, fruits, dry fruits, nuts. These food choices ought to definitely supply your body with a good amount of protein, carbs, fats(not much), fiber, etc. Now go eat like a musclehead(which is ALOT of the above foods mentioned) .

Lol aiight then damn. I gotta up my game something serious. THese magazines like muscle and fitness really do a number on brainwashing folks into buying these products. DO you have some kind of guide for protein ratio per food product ?

I weigh 230 lbs so I have to take 230 grams of protein per day??!!!!!!!

Other then Creatine, zma, proteine, bcaa what other supplement u mess with?

you can't taste it AT ALL. You can straight up dissolve it in water. this stuff is godlike. They also sell different flavored pre mixed 20 oz bottles which taste like "fruit juice" (really good)... 160 calories...0 carbs....40 grams of whey protein isolate per bottle. i drink a bottle after just about every workout.

my bad if you were talking about "bars"
yeah...."Slim way" is just about the only high protein bar i've found that's not gritty and chalky tasting & i think they've been discontinued(the bars). for most part....yes protein bars blow. I stick with the whey protein shakes as well....

I didn't mean to say whey(or casein) protein because I take those religiously(4 to 5 times a day). I wanted to say protein bar though. Sorry for the misunderstanding. By the way, I take Whey Isolate protein and Casein protein from Optimum Nutrition(ON), good stuff.
