if you lift to solely to build muscle, then "the Pump" should be your friend. The blood rushing through your muscles promote muscle hypetrophy in other words it promotes muscle growth(combined with a solid diet). And that is what bodybuilders have been doing for years and years. It has worked for pros and for amatuer bodybuilders. Also there's several studies that testify this process.
I don't even have to go far to prove what I am saying. My own body has grown(quite immensely) through repetition and constant pounding with heavy weights and a solid diet(and supplements). I went from 185lbs to 250lbs in two years. So it has definetely worked for me. So I don't know where you got your facts from.
