An Interview with Mic Soloist
BrooklynBeefCakez: So, Mic Soloist whats new with you?
M Soloist: working on music constantly, doing the personal training thing still, possibly moving to indy, and getting my new website off the ground, along with getting my first album (Sutter Cane - Comfortable Victim) fully pressed.
BrooklynBeefCakez: that sounds terrif
BrooklynBeefCakez: who will be doing the production on the Sutter Cane album?
M Soloist: well sutter cane is my music alias, the title of the album is "comfortable victim." production was handled mostly by sohh's own "War Word" aka Jordan Davis, as well as some local and internet producers ive had the pleasure of working with.
BrooklynBeefCakez: as far as fairly recent releases, i've been spinning G.L.U.E.'s latest album, "sunset lodge", i've also been the sampler to atmosphere's new album "you can't imagine how much fun we're having." i've also picked up the new "sigur ros" ablum, and i love the newest "bright eyes" album.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Who are your top 3 emcees of all time?
M Soloist: at some point i could have told you easily, but right now i have no clue. but tupac shakur was always my favorite emcee growing up, and i'll always hold his music close. some of my favorites of all-time include tupac, slug, brother ali, aesop rock, gift of gab, del, outkast, rakim, ect.
BrooklynBeefCakez: If Tupac was still alive do you think he would shake your hand?
M Soloist: i dunno. i think it depends on the mood he was in.
BrooklynBeefCakez: What exactly is motivating you to stay fit and keep up with the personal training?
M Soloist: i started working out in january 2003, and i fell in love with it. since then i've gotten my certification for training, i've been working in a gym for almost a year, and now my job may take me to another state. i certainly want to work in the fitness industry for my entire life. that is unless i'm able to make a career out of music. even then i'd love to train people on the side. nothing makes me happier than seeing people change their body. the progress they make in the gym, helps them in every aspect of life.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Are there some posters who you train?
M Soloist: Yeah, i post on some fitness forums and try to help others when it's possible :-)
BrooklynBeefCakez: It would seem hard to help posters though, do they send you a pic of themselves so you can get an idea?
M Soloist: usually on fitness forums people just ask questions, and give some info about their situation. then people come in and give advice. just like sohh without all the herbs.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Which herbs are you referring to?
M Soloist: i'll save that for the summer jam screen :-)
M Soloist: in reality sohh is petty, im not calling names.
M Soloist: i just wish that site was more like it was when i signed up in 2000. now it's full of kids that got into rap music in the late 90's. it's just a very immature place to post. but there are idiots on all message boards. that's what the internet is all about. everyone can be somebody, just like 9th said.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Some people on sohh dislike you. When did all this hate start?
M Soloist: hmmm. honestly i couldn't tell you where, when, or how. i've posted there since 2000. i've always held opinions that seperate me from the most of sohh
BrooklynBeefCakez: Do you like how George Bush handled the Katrina situation?
M Soloist: i think the handling of katrina could have been better on all levels. i think bush understands that, and i respect him for taking the blame. george w. bush has seen a lot in his four years. he's walked the streets at ground zero in both nyc and no. he's hugged survivors, he's held children that have lost their entire families, and he has had to make some incredible choices. the war in iraq was optional. and it could have been handled better. i supported the president through the entire process. i respected him pro-active approach, and i admire leaders that make difficult decisions.
BrooklynBeefCakez: But do you think that the way George Bush handled the Katrina situation shows how he doesnt care about the black and poor people?
M Soloist: that is absolutely ridiculous.
M Soloist: anyone that thinks george bush hates black people isn't worth responding to. that is the moveon.org, al sharpton, jesse jackson, al frankin left-wing nonsense that will keep all democrats out of the white house for a long time to come.
BrooklynBeefCakez: no one said he hates black people, read the question, i said "care" . . . . theres a difference
M Soloist: i think george w. bush cares deeply for all americans.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Are we all Americans? Blacks people and White people?
M Soloist: yes we are all americans without a doubt.
BrooklynBeefCakez: If we are all Americans, and Bush cares deeply for all Americans then why dont we ALL get equal rights?
M Soloist: be more specific?
BrooklynBeefCakez: economic and social rights
BrooklynBeefCakez: the 14th Amendment doesnt apply to all of us you know . . . .
M Soloist: people that are born into poverty (life myself), are not going to have the same oppritunities as people born in beverly hills, or even people born into middle class homes.
M Soloist: i believe we do have equal rights, but i do not believe people should be dependent on the federal government. katrina is a great example of that. people were waiting on the feds to save them, and they died. in 2005 people overestimate the federal government.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Waiting? You say that like they had other options, like they could call a cab or something
M Soloist: if i were in no, i would have started walking if i had to. they had a few days warning. if someone told me a cat 5 hurricane was on the way to my city, and i didn't drive, i would literally get a backpack and start walking. the people in the nursing homes, handicapped, ect. could have been put on the fleet of school buses that the mayor failed to use. look at the way texas is handling the situation. true local governemnt leadership. the same can be said for florida. the NO situation was horrible, but many people could have been saved if they would have.
M Soloist: A. taken matters into their own hands
M Soloist: B. been better assisted by the state government
M Soloist: then the mayor piled up thousands of people into the superdome, knowing they would lose power at the very least, and didn't even bring in back up porti-pots, generators, or anything.
M Soloist: that was handled HORRIBLY
BrooklynBeefCakez: Are you saying the state government had sufficient power to remedy the Katrina problem?
BrooklynBeefCakez: Its pretty palpable that they needed national help
M Soloist: before the levy broke, yes, for the most part. after that the feds certainly could have done a better job.
M Soloist: the evacuaton process was horrible, and that's what i blame on the state. because the mayor and governor should have a major evactuation plan. the feds are not responsible for that. again, look how well texas is getting people out.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Ok lets get back to the equal rights issue
BrooklynBeefCakez: I think its silly to say we all have equal rights
M Soloist: explain....
BrooklynBeefCakez: We dont even have equal votings rights
M Soloist: everyone over the age of 18 has the right to vote...
BrooklynBeefCakez: Yes but have you heard of gerrymandering?
M Soloist: yes i have.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Through redistriction and manipulation of boundaries, rich whites collect more votes
BrooklynBeefCakez: and the blacks and the poor lose out
M Soloist: WHOA
M Soloist: hang on
BrooklynBeefCakez: ok
M Soloist is idle
M Soloist is no longer idle
M Soloist: dude
M Soloist: there is a spider
M Soloist: in my room
M Soloist: the size of
M Soloist: a baby's hand
M Soloist: and i cant find it
M Soloist: ill BRB
BrooklynBeefCakez: son
BrooklynBeefCakez: you scared of a spider?
M Soloist: :-(
BrooklynBeefCakez: be a man
M Soloist: haha, naaw
BrooklynBeefCakez: if its really the size of a baby's head how can you not find it?
M Soloist: not scared, just need to locate it, and kill it, and it's behind my tv or dresser, im not at all scared i just wanna kill it
M Soloist: AND I DONT REALLY want it crawling up my leg while im typing
BrooklynBeefCakez: so you like to kill black things because you feel they are threat to you?
M Soloist: lol
M Soloist: yea... sure
BrooklynBeefCakez: did u kill it yet?
M Soloist: no
M Soloist: continue
M Soloist: i got my eye open
BrooklynBeefCakez: well do you want to respond to the Gerrymandering statement i made before you left?
M Soloist: prove it
M Soloist: otherwise...
BrooklynBeefCakez: prove it? its a known fact
BrooklynBeefCakez: pick up a book
M Soloist: point me towards
M Soloist: some evidence
M Soloist: that isn't left-wing spin
M Soloist: or mike moore movies
BrooklynBeefCakez: prove what?
BrooklynBeefCakez: you said you heard of Gerrymandering
M Soloist: *sigh*
M Soloist: everyone has the right to vote.
M Soloist: if there is something crooked going on...
M Soloist: ill tell u right now
M Soloist: most young people i know dont even vote
M Soloist: so until people get off their ass on election day, i dont wanna hear it
M Soloist: people were so gassed to get bush out
M Soloist: and then half of them didnt show
BrooklynBeefCakez: You said we all have equal voting rights. But Gerrymandering is used to disadvantage particular constituents, such as a racial or class groups.
BrooklynBeefCakez: so do we really have equal votings rights?
BrooklynBeefCakez: you have to admit
BrooklynBeefCakez: We dont ALL get the same rights
M Soloist: they need to get organized
M Soloist: and fight against it
BrooklynBeefCakez: ok
M Soloist: the USA
M Soloist: offers the most
BrooklynBeefCakez: they need to get organized and fight against what? an injustice right?
M Soloist: freedom and opportunity
M Soloist: in the world
BrooklynBeefCakez: do you admit this is an injustice?
M Soloist: if enough people can prove that there is injustice, they should get organized, and fight to change it
BrooklynBeefCakez: thats not what im asking you
BrooklynBeefCakez: im asking if this Gerrymandering displays an injustice
M Soloist signed off
M Soloist signed on
BrooklynBeefCakez: are u there?
M Soloist: but i don't really want to get deep into stuff like this. i don't bother debating on sohh anymore.
BrooklynBeefCakez: Why? cuz you lose all the time?
M Soloist signed off
M Soloist signed on
BrooklynBeefCakez: Ok lets end this interview
