Default Saw The Roots for the first time, I rank them...

A 5/10. Everybody knows the roots is a tight ass band but they overdid it. plus them fools went too far left, over half of the show was some alternative ish or stolen beats. i didn't like half of the remixed performances of their better singles, especially what they do. they didn't say nothin for half the concert, just a bunch of inaudible phrases and un huh's. then ?uest really upset me with his anit-climatic 10 minute drum solo. damn i've heard so much about their live performance but in memory of in living color - "hated it"

yes i'm a female no sh1t sherlock

secondly, you must be white because those were the only people really feeling that sh1t for the whole concert

third, i said they're a tight band, their mastery of their insrtuments is great, but as far as the hip-hop their supposed to represent, they are wack

Judging by your screenname, I would probably rate your intelligence a 5/10 too. I can't really respect your opinion.

common tore it up better with a live band on Electric circus tour better than the roots to me. I have seen them 3 times and they do overdoit sometimes. I remember when phrenology just dropped and i went to see them, they were on some heavy metal ish that night and i wasn't feelin it at all. Seen them recently like in November and that show was aight, sometimes i like when they throw in the hiphop classics, all the solos inbetween the sets it's something that i like too but it can be overdrawn too. overall they are good live but honestly they change up their show all the time so depends when you catch them. i do definitely agree on your one point though of them remixing joints on stage sometimes you just wanna hear the joint you love not an interpretation of it.

I saw the Roots once in 97 and that sh!t was ...

Add to that the fact I ain't white, makes me think your're just uncultured. To each his/her own. I saw Fugees that same year They were also great similar type show.

I kind of agree with mademoiselle

I have seen the roots in concert 5 times now and I have to say that there show in 98 >>>>>>>>> the last I saw in 2004

They over do all that instrument sh!t and to be honest, its not that great at all

The best part of teh last show was when Skillz came out and killed it and then battled with black thought

I am a fan of live instrumentation but when Im going to see a Roots show, Im hoping they do a wide range of there best songs

5/10 ia a little harsh but Its def not what people make it out to be. Most people who are impressed by The Roots live performances are often people who havent seen much live shows out of Hip hop in there lives.

In the same style, The Herbaliser blows them out of water and same for many other groups.

I guess it could be that as members leave and time passes they have changed their live set over the years. But they killed it in 97. They didn't remix much form what I remember Thought, Malik & Dice Raw were doing there thing then.

yeah the show must def changed probably because the crowd did also

it got much paler in there through the years (at least in Montreal it did)

So I guess they adjust to the crowd also.

Plus I was mad impressed with Rahzel's contribution the first time and now he been MIA

Same when I saw them in October when they were at my school. I was sort of bored. But the show was free, which is great cause them dudes charge a lot for their shows. I would have rioted if I paid 35 bucks for that crap.

the fukk is up with 45 minutes of improvising and soloing? You aint Phish or Pink Floyd, or whatever. Shyt is art, but it really is not Hip hop.
