Its never cold in May,
but today the sky was grey –
and sunshine never made it past my blinds…
Its only when we don’t look, that we find,
the things in life we’ve been missing,
Only when grass grows green do we realize where the sun has been kissing,
Saturdays are for reminiscing,
on seasons past and forgotten
a summer breeze sometimes smells like autumn –
(But I know the difference)
Its never cold in May,
is what the trees used to say
as they swayed to a morning breeze –
I watched the leaves –
fall from branches,
and embrace gravity in dramatic dances
before touching against cobblestone.
Sundays are for facing tomorrow -
letting go of the past,
sometimes I walk too fast
without knowing the way.

You said when I asked of the weather.
We spoke of our love using words like
“forever”, imagining “never” being apart
Its always a masquerade when relationships start,
and so we dance in these masks…
Beneath sunset we’d bask
and I feel tempted to ask
your lips
If they’ve ever been kissed by dew…

Sometimes I feel so bad
sometimes I feel the moon is singing
to the animal in me,
and I run out to the field where the weeds are at my knees,
just to lay down and disappear.
I remember before you were here –
I never had reason to weep...
Now sleep only arrives
with your gentle kiss on my cheek
and your hands stroking my hair
your scent choking the air
your arms holding me there...
(and I don’t want to care)

G*d damn, I was last here Feruary 13, 2003. Reading this poem was music to my soul and reminded me that I've been away too long. I relate to this on so many levels. It was well written.
