Why is it gangsta to be ignorant and portray a life of crime???
Shouldn't african americans be disappointed the Cam'ron and his Dip**** set have further helped to reinforce negative stereotypes that have plagued Blacks since our introduction into this white mans society. Why is selling crack and other forms of zombie inducing narcotics something to proud of in our communities. Why is murdering our black brothers something to be proud of, something which bestows credibility in our neighborhoods.
many rappers portray that thug life, but no group has embraced this as much as Cam and his flunkies. Instead of us looking up to jay z and Puffy and master p and Russel simmons for their entreprenuerial spirit and steadfastness we bask in the stupidity and ignorant ******ish attitudes of acts such as 50 cent, Cam'ron and the idiotic Beanie sigel . We need to show these artists that negative portrayals about our communities is irresponsible and shouldn't be tolerated. We are losing the battle to keep hip hop as the dominating music expression for our generation. we have the power to unite the masses to ensure its survival. if we don't send a message that glamourizing the destruction of our race is evil, we as a people shall never realize the fruits of our forefathers labor.

Obviously a well thought out post, but you posted it on the wrong forum. I agree with what your sayin, but you'll probably receive a lot of hate from SOHH being that half of the members are Dipset stans and the other half are 50 di*k riders.

I don't see the connection...He is talking about glorifying drug dealers and killers. I don't see whites glorifying slavery, terrorism, mass destruction, etc. I know there are those who do, but they are just as wrong as the people that he is talking about.

i am a proud memeber of the african american persausion. i just find it reprehensible that we as a people find 50 cent and Cam'ron to be gangster and therefore idiolize them because they have good beats. we look past all the negativity that they bring to us as a people, why is it good to have sold crack or been shot. why do we glamourize the thug life, why do we put more emphasis on cars and jewelry than treating our black women with respect and ensuring our kids are raised in a safe environment.
All that stuff you are against is the definition of "gangsta". If you are against criminal acts and recklesness then you are against "gangsta" in itself. The thread should not be why are these acts gangsta but instead why do people respect and admire "gangsta".
