Default Was the invasion/Alliance story from 2001 the biggest blown angle ever?

Im just reminiscing on youtube on all these classic clips like damn how did vince and co ruin this? I remember jizzing in my pants when ECW came out during that kane/chris jericho match and thinking of the all out war between ecw/wcw/wwf. Then they had to merge them, get the annoying mcmahons/stone cold/angle running ship, and turn all of them heel to save face for the wwf superstars. I think the outcome of this story is one of the reason i stopped being a big fan and basically killed the attitude era. I'm wondering did they even try or was it part of their scheme to humiliate and further bury ecw/wcw?

They needed Sting, Flair, and Goldberg. DDP came in as a stalker that was sniffing Sara's panties and $hit That's the mindset they had for WCW talent back then.

The last sentence in your summary is the answer though. This is Vince McMahon. He lost his sense of honor long ago. He wanted to do a incest story with his early 30s daughter...he holds grudges against stars that basically kept his ass in business in the 90s and 2000s....he thinks parody wrestling matches with NBA owners is great TV. Think about it. His pettiness knows no limits.

I was a youngin marking out for the ECW squad, I'll never forget Paul Heyman telling JR "feel this moment" when the turn happened and RVD jumped out of the audience (I think with Dreamer)...and later that night when the EC Dub guys came through the crowd and the ECW theme played...then in a matter of minutes...

Vince P!ssed on the whole thing by aligning ECW/WCW and treating them like jobbers and that began my 8 year drought (and counting) from watching WWE television. Vince saw this as a fun side project for him to bury the other guys.

Without a doubt its THE biggest blown angle of all time. This is one of the reasons that I took a long break from watching the E. I was a bigger ECW fan than I ever was a WCW fan, and when they got mistreated the way they did, it was sickening. Nobody was marking out more than Me when ECW came thru and Heyman did his turn while announcing. But then it all went to hell.

Probably will never be topped either. Should have been easily the most memorable period of wrestling ever.

What made me mad the most is that at the end of the angle all of the WCW and ECW guys (except RVD) came out looking like bums and clowns.... they looked liked they wasn't even a threat to the WWF. The sole reason the oringinal nWo worked because they were destroying all of the WCW roster to the point that you throught they might take over WCW... The Alliance made a couple of good shoot promos but that's it.

When you think about vince has fukked ECW twice first with the invasion then with the return of ECW. I think the 2nd time was worst becuase it was such a tease. The 1st 2 ONS and the hammerstein shows were beautiful. Then as soon as real ECW fans refuse to go along with the usual shennanigans they gutted the program and turned it into a glorified heat.
