Default Looking Back..one of the Best things to happen

to the WWF was for shawn michaels to retire for 4 years. let's be honest he would have fought his hardest to keep stone cold and the rock from becoming the megastars they became.

Utter truth but Austin was going to the top which is why Vince wanted Bret out of the way to begin with. Rock was already red hot by the time Austin beat Hickenbottom clean at Mania.

I don't know if it would have mattered much, crowds were turning on babyface Bret cause the Austin character was that over.

Bret was also doing a whining gimmick after Royal Rumble..that played into the fans going against him when he backed down from Shamrock at Mania 13.

austin owes a lot to bret he played a perfect foil for ausin when he was first blowing up sad they didn't get to do the real blow off at wm 14 like planned

hbk would of been pushed aside anyways ironically hhh was the one to benefit from him leaving the most

Austin was getting the push regardless at that time but it's possible Foley/HHH/Rock might've been held down some if he was around then.

^ He might've been HBKs sidekick for longer or maybe just never broken out of it with HBK still getting pushed.

I think more important than Michaels leaving was Bret getting pushed out.

That dude didnt even want to drop the title in his last match with the company. So much so that Vince had to swerve him to get it off of him. At least Michaels went ahead and did it whether he wanted to or not.

And theres no way that Austin wouldn't have won the belt, and no way Rock wouldnt have come up either. It'd just added to the talent pool.

If anything, maybe Foley wouldnt have won

So what? He wasnt willing to drop it is the key. It was his final night in the company, everyone knew he was jumping ship. Even if he didnt trash the belt on WCW, the fact that he would be winning it and basically just handing it back over was terrible for WWF at the time.

SMH at you Bret stans.

Is this post some kind of a joke? Shawn Michaels is the hero? I could swore he was the coward that Taker had to blackmail into dropping the belt to Austin. Bret wanted to give the belt up on Raw. Vince fukked him and the art of the business over. Simple as that.
