its an interesting album to dicuss, because people had a lot of different takes on it. ive always liked it, but i thought the main problem was the crossover joints were so much different from the street joints. it was like listening to songs from 2 different projects
some of them worked (Whats the Deal,Hey AZ) some of them were pretty bad (Its A Boy Thing, Last Dayz) but all in all id give it 4 mics and would probably tie it with Aziatic for his 2nd best album

Payback, Sosa, & Love Is Love are crazy, haven' listened to it in a while....overall in his catalogue I got POAM right in with Aziatic as the 2nd/3rd best just in front of AWOL and behind Doe Or Die...
In retrospect, how dope an album was this? Criminally slept on for real.
Production is tip-top, subject matter is diverse, sonically it's all over the place. He's got Nas on some back & forth, Dre's in it, RZA's in it, Trackmasters are in it, big-time. Minimal weak spots. It's also hands down his most well-rounded, complete, balanced record containing a perfect mix of radio-friendlies and core album joints, with scarcely any filler.
Lyrically it's off the charts as well: "Play the game for my people stay in charge of your dreams/ Keep your vision focused, get wise, and largen your cream/ Marketin' schemes/ so many in the dark that's unseen/ Caught in between/ perhaps rap was a fortunate thing/ Forced to be keen/ from hustlin', supportin' them fiends/ Bustin' guns, I had no remorse as a teen/ Rockin' birth stones/ my first, get bent nurse the dome/ It hurts to zone, now I realize I'm on this Earth alone." And on and on and on.
If Doe Or Die was his Illmatic, why wasn't this his chart-topping, cross-over It Was Written?

i throw it on in the whip everynow and then
How U Livin's my ****
i cant fukk with it though
it dropped in the middle of Biggie's wake year of 1997, wasn't no room for a Brooklyn rapper with worse production (yeah the beats are lame man)
