A lot of the suggestions in here sounded really basic and boring. Like fashion starter kits. For example in the summer time you don't necessarily need to rock an entire suit. Sometimes that looks like you're trying too hard. Switch it up and just rock a dope vest, dress shirt, tie, slacks, and hard bottoms. Especially if it's hot as hell out.

White
Shades of light blue
Certain lighter shades of purple
Lighter shades of pink
Lighter shades of brown
Red is doing to much fam
I would add that the shade should depend on the season. Darker for fall/winter, lighter for spring/summer. I personally do not rock the same shade year round except for white.
Bottom line, fashion is about versatility. Not how much $$ you drop on a wardrobe or even if you rock a suit and tie everyday. It's actually the exact opposite. You can have a closet full of suits and ZERO fashion sense.
Another tip: browse stores to peep the latest trends and shades. Do not go based upon what your peers or coworkers are wearing because the majority of them do not know what they are doing. Also if you're not used to the grown man fashion game, get dressed a few hours before you have to be where you have to be. Break your threads in. Go to the mall, walk around downtown, etc. You can usually point out the person that is outside of their comfort zone. This helps to disguise it a little better.

Got to crawl before you walk
Sometimes not wearing a suit isn't an option, you can pick up a suit with a lighter material. You would be crazy to rock wool for no reason during the summer.

Yeah, but that book has levels, lol. Like today I'm rocking a burned orange/brown sweater, black and marron fine pin striped button up, khakis, and black hard bottoms. Definitely not something I would advise a fashion rookie to pull off.
I'm a community organizer so on any given day I interact with executives, politicians, and community residents. That's a pretty diverse crowd, and I rarely rock a suit. It's more about how (and if) you can pull certain things off.

I also own a maroon button up. Although I don't wear it with a tie, the shirt can be pulled off depending on your skin tone (No Simmons) with a nice pair of black slacks and a black shirt underneath. But RED, RED... yeah, that's a no.

Right but you are used to doing it so across the board you got a strong wardrobe.
Nothing is worse than the one time a nicca got wear suit and he show up in Pastels!

Yeah but that's more business casual, Furious was talking about with a tie. You wouldn't rock that maroon with suits I bet

my bank changed dress codes like 3 times so when we went to suits i stocked up on more than i needed. now we're back to casual so i don't have to wear them unless i'm out with a client. i ended up with such a nice collection though so i almost look forward to needing to wear one now.

I can't imagine the daunting task a tailor must go through to make his suits.
Smh @ homeboy having to use the same tape measure that woodcutters use.

The spring/summer time is about the little touches:
- your time piece
- your belt (I own 9)
- your physique
- your shades (my sis is a store manager at the largest eyeglass retailer so she is schooling me)
- basically anything that can be more exposed
I'm not a millionaire like some of ya'll:rolleyes: But I still know how to make it happen.

you don't have to be a millionaire to be well-dressed. in fact most of the big hitters i deal with that pull down several mill a year dress like bums. money doesn't equal fashion sense.
