Now I'm not gone front and say that I was growing up and listening to Ice Cube, because I was only 4 years old when he was in his prime. But I did have the luxury of going back and listening to all his old **** that was sick. I'm afraid that in this Soulja Boy Era of music, Ice Cube will only be known for "Are We There Yet" and other Films, when IMO, he was one of the most consistent rappers back in the day and is a Legend.

I'm not really into calling people names over a forum, but my point is, 17-18 years ago when he was in his prime, he was one of the realest, and a lot of younger people don't realize that.

Why should a rapper lose credibility for makin movies?? Actors are supposed to A-C-T...meaning they aint supposed to depict their actual life or be keepin it real, and if he wants to make a movie for kids..why the eff not?? I mean jeez..dude will be turning 40 soon and has a kid who's 20+...you think he should still be actin as Dougboy in his movies??

If people want to hate on Cube cause they think he sorta sold out on 'We be clubbin'..fine. I disagree, but at least hatin on him for that holds weight because that was part of his music. What I dont get is when people start hatin on Cube because of his movie decisions, something that should have no influence on his legacy as a rapper. Cube has said many times...music is his passion and where he'll at least try to 'keep it real', but movies are about business, about his hustle, and the bottomline dinero. I respect that.

You can't lose credibility for making movies and having a family. He's not the same dude he was when he young he's a grown ass man now with different views.

Funny I was talkin' about this last night to my wife. Cat's like O'Shea and Willard Smith are mad smart for making good transitions. Funny how ppl. bypass Ice T from "Cop Killer" tracks to playin' a cop on TV.

LL, Queen, have been good at it. MANY other rappers TRY to act but realize it is in fact a craft. Bottom line

Movie Star Check > Hip Hop Superstar Check

honestly,
how much cred would cube have if he was still rapping about what he was doing at 20 years old when he is like 37 now.

Ice Cube's worst album (War & Peace, Vol. 2) was still better than many MC's best one.

i don't think hes lost any credibilty at all, its just his time has passed, he still made a solid album last year (Or 1 before), i hope he makes another album and just keeps it kinda real, i don't wanna hear him talking about hes shooting people or any of that, but hes a good enough story teller and seen enough to tell it in the perspective of someone else, Ghetto Vet is a classsic track from one of his so called weaker albums.
