Let's be real here, people saying "Kanye isn't Hiphop" are CRAZY. I haven't really heard Kanye's new album too much, but to say Kanye isn't Hiphop? That's a ****ed up statement to even say.

The reality is Kanye West is the MAIN dude in the mainstream that is bridging the gap between the "underground" artists and the mainstream. Trust me, the people that have followed Kanye before "through the wire" even dropped know what I'm talking about.

Remember when he was hosting mixtapes for Talib Kweli back in the day?

Dude was on his grind for the longest time before he blew up like he did. And he earned it, he wasn't really "put on" by anyone in that sense. He didn't have a Dr. Dre provided mega hit "In Da Club" to gain him mainstream attention. Dude produced and creatively packaged his own **** and other people's ****. There are freestyle battles of him and common on the radio that date back to 1996.


No one would have ever expected him to flourish like he has. "Through the wire" was hot and give him a lil buzz, but DAMN to even think he'd achieve the success that he has now.

Face it, Kanye is making Hiphop records right now, and 50 cent is making gangster pop Hiphop records. This is a fact.

Kanye West's contribution to Hiphop as a producer and as an MC is greater than anything 50 Cent will ever achieve and amount to in the "peer respect" category. Some of the things people are saying about Kanye in this thread truly demonstrate that they don't grasp the essence of Hiphop. lol @ Kanye "selling out" -- where did he sell out? and don't post some **** about making a sprite commercial or some other **** cause that just further proves that you don't "get it".
