What's good SOHH? Last time I posted some of my boys stuff up we got a pretty decent response but to get some kind of interest going we posted up another one for my homie SSP's project entitled American Gangster THX.
The theme to this joint is like none other, people just trying to get on the Danger Mouse thing and do a whole album mash up? Well in case y'all ain't catch it the theme here is to show SSP's diversity so what was done is he sampled a song that had a similar title to it. The joint we got here is Jay-Z's "Sweet" and he sampled Anita Bakers "Sweet Love". Lemme know what y'all think:

Oh and SSP got some new beats on the page too.

"Sweet" was okay, but I actually liked "Pray" a little better. Respect.

Really don't like the cymbals, could use some better mixing in general.
Check out how MF Doom used the very same sample on Hoe Cakes. (song is aka Soopa)

I would have liked some of Anita's vocals to come through. Overall though a nice effort. The timing could have been a little better though. This is like the 8th remix album that I have heard. I would be impressed to see you flip something that hasn't been flipped yet.

yeah dem cymbals are off and the timing need 2 be better and the mix is real bad. Its need improvement, it doesnt have any real sound 2 it. Sounds like its drums over sounds.

Like both, but diggin Camp Lo's more. Their flow fits the beat better, and the drums are smoother and more in touch with Anita's vocals, almost like she sang background for them. Always loved Understandable Smooth, but just heard this Lo track. Lo's track is just on another level of beat makin with the same sample.

I'll go out on a limb and say I really enjoyed it. I couldn't tell where it was going at first. And maybe that's my only criticism. But even that was kind of cool cuz I really liked how the drums came in. Like a surprise. It's a creative and ambitious pattern to match against Jay's flow. A big departure from the original.
I have no idea what part of "Sweet Love" you used, and perhaps another criticism is that you could make it more recognizeable so that listeners can make that connection. But then again, I'm at work and the buffering **** gets on my nerves so I didn't listen to the whole thing. And our speakers are horrible so I can't comment on the mix.
Overall, I enjoyed it.
Keep it up.
