Snoop been in the game for more than 15 years, dropped albums after albums, even dropped group things like the eastsidaz, 213, dpg etc...
You could actually play 1 hour of Snoop's hits at any party and have people going nuts.
Even now, he's still putting quality music, can rock the crowd etc...
Why would you put Jay-Z before Snoop ?
Maybe because you from NY & you hate Snoop or maybe because of the money Jay has or maybe because you're just a fan of jay
frankly i dont know why people would have him # 1 and not have Snoop on before Jay

Other than being a notable name in the game for slightly longer, and being a part of some groups, you didn't make much of a case for Snoop. If you're basing this on party hits, Jay might have Snoop beat. That's not even getting into the technical part of things. Plus I feel like Jay's been more consistent album to album than Snoop has. That said, they're both legends so I don't think it's a stretch to compare them.

blah blah blah you can say the same about jay-z
Jay-z has one classic album, the blue print, and then got kicked to the curb by nas, who has no clout in the business whats so ever...
As far as comparing party tracks, do ya'll even like those 'for the moment' hits jay-z even had...they were for that 'two month' period at the time, but ain't no one goes "hey remember that jay-z track, i don't remember the name but it sounded alot like his last 5 singles"
Snoop as the perfect balance of party singles mixed with street rhymes...
Jay is like "Mommy Dressed me, Shopping in the district, I own 1 % of the nets and my fans front like I own 80, That means I was raised in the 80's...UGH........Heeeeeeeeeeey Papi............"

1.) If you look at "most" peoples top 10 list you will NOT see Snoop....however, you will see Jay..don't believe me Check this out (ttp://forums.sohh.com/showthread.php?t=988096)
OR
THIS (http://www.mtv.com/bands/h/hip_hop_week/2006/emcees/)
2.) Jay's Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint are seen as classics by "most" people. He also has a catalogue of stronger ALBUMS.
3.) In terms of lyrics there is NO comparison.
4.) Impact on the game...c'mon man. He REALLY was the man that made ppl. start and stop drinkin' Crystal. REALLY made them stop making that 4.0 Range. And influenced mad ppl.'s dress codes.
Now in fairness Snoop is a beast in his own right. There's no denying his impact on the Game (no pun intended) is large. He's become multimedia and successful doing it. But c'mon man..as purely an emcee there is NO comparison.

Whereas with Doggystyle it is not even debatable whether it is a classic - no 'most' no nothing, it's bonafide. We don't even have to put up top 10 lists for this.
That's not even going into Snoops legendary contributions through the Chronic, Dogg Pound etc. Influence? Wanna count the times Jay ripped Snoop off?

03-05-08, 09:49 AM
n1gga please....snoop is a legend no doubt, but when it comes to fleshing out his legacy, he is somewhat an underachiever, and technically (lyrics, flows, quotes, concepts) he ain't coming nowhere near close
you can't even make a case catalog wise either, this argument has no legs, jay is top 10, snoop is top 20

for one homie, i'ma need to see a list of these supposed songs that he ripped off from snoop, cuz that sounds like real reach
secondly, as much as i love DS and the cronic, neither album was all the way written by snoop, sh1t DOC and others are writing his sh1t right now, jay penned RD without the use of pinch hitters my n1gga...strike one, try harder

correction jay has 4 classics.....reasonable doubt, blueprint, black album, american gangster(this one no one will admit to until about 4 years from now) and the albums that are not supposed classics have classic songs that we all still play today i.e in my lifetime has where im from, hard knock life which some consider a classic, blueprint 2 has more bangers on it than snoops last 3 albums. then you got the best of both worlds album that people still play but im realizing how dumb this is even arguing this point anybody tryin to say snoop better than jay is apparently a jay hater and on some powerful narcotic.....

Kid..I'm trying to be fair. To "me" there's no question. And you have ONE classic album vs. TWO. Vol. 2...the Black Album even American Gangsta are all STRONG albums.
Snoop does NOT have this kind of reach.

try what? how about you acknowledge that this unshakable classic that you're speaking of (you won't get an argument from me on that, love the album) is not born purely of snoops mind?
in those days, snoop could freestyle, but couldn't put it into song form, therefore he was using ghost writers....period point blank right? sh1t he's using them RIGHT NOW
like i said, your argument ain't got no legs, i asked you like 3 or 4 posts ago which songs did jay rip off from snoop and no answer...then you come back skipping around the fact of DS having ghost writers if not all of snoops albums for that matter
and in the technical aspects of emceeing...can you actually give snoop the nod over jay? if you can, i want whatever the fucck you smoking loc

Not really, check the thread - I never called Jay wack or anything, in fact I even pointed out that he's one of my faves. It just so happens that I really don't give a fukk about 'technical aspects', that's the shyt that Canibus fans usually throw around.
Jay is much cleverer then Snoop as an Mc, that's obvious - but Snoop has a much better flow, and Jay, not on AG but on everything from Blueprint II to Kingdom Come comes off as trying too hard. Dude was corny as hell to me until he dropped AG, which is a great album.
And Doggystyle have been born by great minds who weren't Snoop doesn't do a single thing to denounce Snoops performance on it - that's why I didn't go in depth for it. Nas was helped plenty on Illmatic, hell right before his first verse we hear 'I don't know how to start this' - that's because they were young as fukk when they dropped.
When Jay first got into the game he was wearing hawaiian shirts - he didn't magically drop Reasonable Doubt after 'dibbling' into the rapgame, he had been trying for years.
On to influence - the biggest single off Jay's only real classic so far, AG might be the second, had Jay izzling it up. While it wasn't originated by Snoop - it was bitten by him, Jay was on Hot97 shouting out Snoop (and Snoop called in) after that.
To WIZE: Sohh lists? You expect me to look at lists from a forum where people call Krs flow wack and question his legendary status serious? Come on man, go outside or something - go to concerts, travel. Snoop is right up there with Jay, I don't question that Jay is higher on the general list - that's a nobrainer, I'm questioning the people saying that Snoop is nowhere near Jay...There is a difference.

snoop has 1 classic, and 8 on the fence ass albums
jay has at least two classics and a consistent catalog of good albums...very few bad apples out the bunch, there is no argument to be made when it comes to catalog on some snoop vs. jay sh1t
what albums other than DS were even remotely good? his best sh1t recently was blue carpet treatment and even that wasn't the "bees knees", nowhere near AG
i mean...where are the gems in this catalog? the dogfather? the wack no limit sh1t? i mean whats really good?
i mean if you like snoop more, just say you like snoop more just because you do...trying to make a rational unbiased case for it just makes your sh1t look suspect
jay has a better catalog, jay is a better spitter, he has more albums out and has been CONSISTENT, something that has eluded snoop creatively and he has the same amount of hits of not more
