So a lot of you take multivitamins and protein shakes. But have you looked at how much vitamins is in your protein powder already? Mine has either 50% to 100% of the daily amount for most of the essential vitamins (A, C, E, etc)

So if I take two shakes a day, that is almost twice the daily amount already. then on top of that you guys are taking more multivitamins? Isn't that overkill and dangerous?

RDA doesn't mean much if you are an active individual. If you are like most people who don't workout and lead sessile lifestyles...then yes, it can be a problem in some respects. But if you are an athlete, get on your grind in the gym or both, or lead an active lifestyle in general then you'll be fine. RDA numbers are developed to fit the average American.....the average American is lazy and not very active. Hell, I believe the RDA for protein is something like 50g/day........I don't see how that's really adequate for anyone personally.

true but taking 4 times the RDA for vitamins can be dangerous. People have died from taking too much vitamins I believe.

What specific vitamins? Are they fat soluble? Water soluble? It takes extraordinary amounts of even fat soluble vitamins to kill you. you'll be fine. If you doubt what I say, do a quick search on google to see how rare it is and the amounts involved.

You can't OD on vitamins, your body will just get rid of the excess as waste.

Only the water soluble. Fat soluble vitamins have a cumulative effect over time and yes, people have died (although VERY rare) from taking A LOT of specific fat soluble vitamins. Water soluble vitamins (such as B, C, etc...) are excreted.

This is true, but to OD on vitamins in general is pathetic.

Yeah this is of no real concern for any average human being.

The upper limit of healthy for the average person is something like 10x the RDA for most fat soluble vitamins. For an active person it could be 20 to 30x the RDA.

So even if you were to somehow exceed that amount and went into the unhealthy range...it would have to be for a very long period of time....and your body would somehow have to not respond to the excess. Somehow you would have to ignore this long enough for you to die from it.

All in all for death to happen, or even any long term damage...about 6 links in the chain must be severely damaged which makes it not a real concern at all for anyone.
