Lupe and Cham are two of my favorites....Lil Wayne is a step down.

I put Lupe first because I think he got the least flaws. I don't know between Cham & Wayne. At this point Cham is definately better lyrically than Wayne but I think Wayne got the edge as an artist.

cham can spit

i dont think "lyricist" get as much shine as "rappers"..

weezy displays "rappin ability" on all his singles
lupe is a lyricist thats doesnt get as much shine down south as he does up north
cham use to be a rapper now lyricist :gag: nikkaz aint checkin for him no mo

Lupe > Wayne > Cham

i wont call cham wack...because i think he has SOME talent, but his style and flow is VERY MUNDANE, his enunciation is pretty annoying at times and his subject matter and so called "singing" is everything but great

the thing that even makes him a viable artist to me is just the fact that he "tries", you can see some honest effort in his rhymes even if they don't come off so great or bore you to death...i can't really bring myself to listen to him much, but i respect him and what he's doin, and i'll watch his progression, he's got a lot of room for improvement tho

the "hip hop police" record is a good example of great effort with wack execution, the concept is great, but the sing songy hook is a bit childish, the video concept was good...but seeing him in that white news reporter dave chappelle rip off was HORRIFYING, cham is the scariest looking white man on earf lol

but yea sh1t like that kinda scream cornball especially up against some of the more "harder" southern acts, wayne's delivery and flow patterns are FAR superior, lyrically cham has the advantage, but wayne at his best is a far better overall listen

lupe is superior to cham and wanye in every way possible (maybe wanye would have delivery over lu, but thats where it stops)

HOW?!? On a content, lyrical, versitility and musical basis Cham shyts on Wayne and I like both. Wayne's biggest problem is that he has little content and no real classic material. Sound of Revenge was literally better than ANY Wayne album release and Cham is getting better and diversifying his music while Wayne is starting to Regress.

As far as Lupe goes, I think his content is a bit deeper than Cham, but Cham's content is more relateable. Lupe and Cham are both two of my present favorites, but their most recent efforts stomp all over Wayne's recent efforts.

Sunzoo, I got mad respect for you as a poster and your knowledge, but I can't agree with you here. Cham is leagues above Wayne and argubly on Lupe's level. But let's discuss

I think calling his style and flow "mundane" is a little unfair and more of a personal opinion. I personally think Wayne's style and flow is rather boring because its a very COMMON and easily mimic'ed style (Punchline rappers). The only differences is that Wayne is a Southern nicca blatantly using Philly punchline rapper style and his southern swag gives him a different presence than your typical punchline MC.

As far as his subject matter, I feel its very realistic and relateable (on an Eminem level even) to your average person. On SoR he talked a lot about growing up poor, struggling to succeed and how he was losing touch wit his religion, but tryin to get it back. I think most niccas can relate to that kinda stuff versus Wayne's constant rappin of fukkin hoes, taking drugs and ballin.

And I think Cham's singing (its HARMONIZING actualy, paying respect to his fathers, BTNH) is dope and part of what makes him stand out from most of the current southern crop of emcees.

the thing that even makes him a viable artist to me is just the fact that he "tries", you can see some honest effort in his rhymes even if they don't come off so great or bore you to death...i can't really bring myself to listen to him much, but i respect him and what he's doin, and i'll watch his progression, he's got a lot of room for improvement tho

Well, at least you can acknowledge that  !

Yeah, you can tell Cham really CARES about hip hop and his rhymes in his music and I don't know if its me, but the fact I can feel and relate to his passion on the music takes it to a higher level than had he not done it.

I mean, like it sounds from this, you haven't HEARD a lot from him. No shame really because there are so many artists out, its hard to be 100% on point wit them all, but so long as you got SoR, UV and the mixtape messiah albums, I'd take your opinion as knowledgeable on the topic.

the "hip hop police" record is a good example of great effort with wack execution, the concept is great, but the sing songy hook is a bit childish, the video concept was good...but seeing him in that white news reporter dave chappelle rip off was HORRIFYING, cham is the scariest looking white man on earf lol

Nah, I DO feel you on this. Hip Hop Police was wack and argubly the worst song on UV to me. But I respect the fact he tried to do something different when he coulda just made another "Ridin Dirty".

I mean, the thing about Cham is that he isn't a "hard" emcee. Most rappers are not real thug dudes and he ain't tryin to be that, he is actually a nice lyricist (a rarity in the south) and knows how to ride a beat. I do think Wayne can have better delivery AT TIMES, but overall as an emcee and artist, the only thing Wayne has over him now is that he is more accomplished due to being out longer.
