I was actually wondering this too. I started going hard again after a long layoff last week. Jumped on the scale yesterday and I was down a little over 5 pounds in 7 days. I heard it's not really healthy to drop that fast, but I feel great

cut calories

1500 a day for a male if you really wanna lose wt..thats how much boxer's in training intake per day

cut carbs

eat lots of lean proteins (grilled chicken, fish, turkey), fruits, vegetables and only whole-grain carbs

go to bestlife (http://www.thebestlife.com/) mad food on there to choose from

id recommend at the bare minimum 30 mins of hardcore cardio a day..hardcore meaning your heart is beating over 160 and youre sweating

you dont need a gym for that..you can run outside or do aerobic kickboxing inside..punching and kicking for 30 mins..or on a bike..whatever you prefer or have access to

once u cut calories and up cardio...you lose wt quickly..and always keep track of it in like a lil calendar or online or wherever

(and lift wts if you'd like..your body burns calories at a way higher pace when u have more muscle)

guy i been on the velocity diet for about a month and i lost 21lbs of fat. but that shiit is hard its all protein shakes.

i do consume 1 meal/day though. its light but it helps.... today i had a tuna over romaine salad (about 4hrs ago) and im hungry again so im gonna go get some grilled chicken or something.

i take in about 1300-1500kcal/day now... and do cardio 5x/week, and weight training 4-5x/week. today i already went to the gym did cardio and weight training but im gonna go again later to do cardio for about an HR.

btw i dunno if you could just consistently lose 15lbs every month, you may get discouraged when the results slow down or stop completely for a while.

naw homey...if u actually lose 15 pounds the first month id keep it up

even if i was losing 5 a month

it adds up in the end......5 a month = 60 a year

big change

what im saying is its quite difficult for your body to constantly lose 15lbs/mo. it will def slow down, regardless if you keep the same routine.

A healthy suggestion is 2 pounds per week on average, but if you have a lot of weight to lose you can up that a pound or two.

I'm assuming you want to lose a lot of fat.

First 4 to 6 weeks limit your carb intake in the 2nd half of the day and workout 3 to 4 times a week. Limit your caloric intake as well. I would advice 1600 to 1800 calories while working out

Next 4 to 6 weeks try ketogenic diet. But instead of cutting carbs dramatically, try cyclical keto for the first 2-3 weeks where you load up on carbs 2 consecutive days of the week and go straight keto the other 5 days. This way you do not effect your workout regimen.

The next 2-3 weeks try targeted keto (changing up your diet is a good thing) where you carb load before your workouts and sometimes alittle a bit after and go keto the other times.

whats the velocity diet?
you lost 21 pounds in a month? thats crazy
okily dokily i will explain in detail what i did, since i'm in a very energetic mood and feel like chatting, LOL.

the Velocity Diet was created by one of the writers at http://testosteronenation.com
it was meant to shred fat off your body very rapidly, and let you keep all your muscles. i was all ears. i asked some of my friends about it who are into bodybuilding very heavily and some of them have gone through it and knowing me; said i definitely should try it. i guess they knew about my willpower.:king:

anyways, after reading up on this v-diet for weeks on end, i decided to go through with it. some of the original products used by Chris Shugart (inventor, i guess) i couldn't find for purchase at GNC, so i settled for other products used by previous v-dieters who've also experienced rapid fat loss.
my suggested calorie intake was gonna be around 1300kcal/day off days and 1500kcal/training days, with as much protein as possible (suggested is at least 1g/1lb of body weight) and no more than 100g/carbs, or 125g/training days, which i cut in half, LOL.

over time i did kind of mod the diet to my, not standards but liking i suppose, and it still works very well. most people say if you mod it, you're no longer on the v-diet. i'll agree if they'd like, and tell people it's my diet then.
enough with that.

i constructed my off/on days food (if you wanna call it that) intake. SPEAKING OF FOOD: did i mention you DO get to have ONE solid meal/week on this? no you can't have whatever you want. it has to be within reason. i for instance, for my first meal (which was my 6th day on the diet) had a turkey burger with a bunch of veggies, and a salmon salad. and just counted that as 1 meal, and cut 1 shake out that day.

enough with my love for food. here's what i was gonna have

off days:

7 casein protein shakes/day 1 shake/120kcal, 24g/protein, 4g/carbs
14 flax seed capsules/day (2 with every meal) (30/kcal of healthy fats)
14 salmon oil capsules/day (also 2 with every meal) (20/kcal of healthy fats
2 servings of colon cleanse (fiber)/day (i figured i'd need help to go to the bathroom since i wasn't having any real food) (5.12g/fiber/carbs per serving)
2 servings of hotrox (fat burner)/day (these things work, and curb your appetite like there's no tomorrow. in which case i found to be better than Redline capsules AnotherGirl suggested (which still burn fat and give lots of energy but don't curb your appetite)
1 serving of some amino acid suppliment i can't find online, but is available at GNC. (to help maintain my hard earned muscle)
total kcal/protein/carb intake daily: 1150/168g/39g

on days:

everything the same except after the gym, i'd drink an extra casein shake, with another serving of whey protein which gave me another 20g/protein, 5g/carbs, and 130/kcal. i also took the flax, salmon oil with this.
total kcal/protein/carb intake training days: 1490/212g/48g

to answer your first question; no. i thought i would be fatigued and weak but i actually have more energy and most of the time feel full on this diet. since i'm "eating" every two hours, my body loves me. it withstands a lot more training and stress now.

and yes, i lost 21lbs in a month, all fat... no muscle loss. in fact i increased muscle, strength in all areas except the shoulder shrug which remained relatively the same.

can you go into more detail on the ketogenic diet? whats the difference between cyclical keto and targeted keto?

Sure. First what is Keto in the most basic definition?

Well, people will probably mention the Atkins diet right away. Sure, Atkins is one of many types of ketogenic diet, since it's a high fat, moderate to high protein and low carb diet (which is what keto is basically), but keto is more than that.

Ketogenisis is a type of state your body enters when it is low on glycose/glycogen and your cells use it as its primary source of energy. When glycogen levels deplete to the point where it is inefficient to operate, your cells seek energy elsewhere. In this case, it's fat stores. And now, the body becomes a fat burning machine. This are the basics.

Cyclical Keto Diet is pretty self-explanatory. This diet caters to those who want to workout regularly, and also want their bodies in the keto stage. This is hard to do effectively without the aid of carbs, since carbs helps a lot with weight training. So, CKD addresses both those needs fairly well. Some people will load just 1 day a week and others load two days a week, but those two days must be consecutive. Why? Because it takes your body 2 or 3 days to get into the keto stage.

Targeted is just loading on carbs before your workouts.

I had a good book on the Ketogenic diet and I cannot find it. I think the authors name is Lyle McDonald. I didn't finish it yet. If you just want to know the basics, then I'm sure there are a lot of good websites, if you want to know how the body works and about specific studies (some are crazy - like obese people on the ketogenic diet for three years and the results from it) Some good stuff.

you can healthily lose 12 -15 lbs a month

It's one thing to be a undercover ***git but please don't spew incorrect info. Losing 1 to 2lbs a week is healthy. If your at least 30lbs above weight then you can healthily lose more which won't last for long.

i don't know about it being SAFE per se, but i got good results. only thing is, when you take it on an empty stomach (about 20 mins prior to first meal) make sure you don't smoke, or brush your teeth. it gives you the worst gag reflex up until you actually consume something.
