I like E-40 and AZ, but this is a common misconception among E-40 fans.
When E-40 dropped "Record Haters", hardly anyone outside of his hard core fans heard the sh*t....so it's not really possible to end someone's career with a song very few people heard.

Oh that reminds me.
Rasheed Wallace got interviewed about that....this was years ago, maybe in "Sports Illustrated", and they asked him about that....and he just said "if he had a problem with what I said about him, he could've called me up like a man instead of making songs like a b*tch". Real talk. I thought it was hilarious.

basically az (in a magazine interview if i remember correctly) said that e-40 is not 'real hip hop' and wack
40 replied with 'record haters' and thats where it stopped

Anyone who doesn't give E-40 respect has to be a little kid...
Most people who were bumpin hip hop in the early and mid 90s respects him....especially in the west, midwest, and south.
I like AZ....I'm not gonna speak on who's better....but E-40's career > than AZ's career.

It only went gold....the same year AZ had a gold single "Sugar Hill". Coming off his verse on "Life's A B*tch", and the single "Sugar Hill", he had more over all buzz in '95-'96 than E-40. If you think otherwise you are either from the Bay, or an E-40 stan. Like I said, I like both but most people outside the Bay wasn't checking for E-40 in '95-'96. Granted I was lucky and one of my homeboy put me up onto E-40 in '94 or so, but hardly anyone back then knew who he was.

so if you thought this was hilarious, why didnt you think that of the gza/50 shyt ?
Um, because Rasheed Wallace ain't a rapper, how does it make sense to diss him in a song? Use your head.
Gza (a rapper) said "he can't rap" about 50 (another rapper)....that's not the same as E-40 (a rapper) catching feelings over Rasheed Wallace (a basketball player) saying "I think E-40 is wack"....then responding in a damn diss song as if Rasheed was gonna record a response. Which is why he said "he should've called me".
Fred.

I still get a kick out of this threads, but eastcoast fans still haven't unable to answer for many years why Biggie or AZ never respond, maybe they haven't watch Life After Death the new Biggie DVD, there some answers but hey I don't expect this new generation of hip-hop to be interested on Biggie/e-40's music the era its for people over 21, i just expect a typical lil wayne mtv sheep to show on the thread an say Biggie is legend even though he never was or lived through the hip-hop scene in 1995/

LOL exactly
A lot of people knew who E-40 was in 94...thats why AZ got dissed, why Biggie mentioned him, and why a bunch of his slang from that album ended up being used by others.
