I have a bottle of white wine to myself, every other day or so. How is affecting my diet?

the average serving of wine is about 90 calories or so.. and there are about six or seven 4-oz servings per bottle of wine.

so, if you're having an entire bottle of wine to yourself, that's about 550 extra calories/day...

^word a BOTTLE a day is hefty.... i'm a wine drinker and it's actually one of the lower carb alchy beverages. (white - about 4 gms carbs per glass). moderation is key dude...

moderation is def key... and what size bottle are we talking about? please dont say your downing magnums every night.

also, its not only the drinking itself that can affect dieting. alot of people will go out, have a good time drinking during the night, then stop off somewhere to eat afterwards... if your trying to loose weight, it can be counter-productive.

then again, i cant say im not guilty of doing some drinking. but i have cut back ALOT and noticed an amazing difference. the past couple of weeks have been pretty bad for me. but ive only gained about 4 lbs. now its back to the gym... with the occasional beer/red. hey, red wine has antioxidants, and brewers yeast is good for you!

I lost my appetite for some reason. I eat breakfast or for the first time around 2pm or so. Then I'll probably eat again around eight and thats it. I drink wine before bed and its normally a 750ml size bottle. I dont know what a magnum size bottle is. I get about 3-4 nice sized glasses out of it.

i know this feedback is totally unsolicited, but this pattern of drinking a bottle of wine before bed - even if it's just every other day and not every single day - is sort of.. well it IS very close to, or more likely would be considered, alcoholic behavior. just take care of yourself, please. if i didn't like you so much i wouldn't bother saying shyt about it, LOL

Hmmm, you think I'm an alcoholic? I drink because it makes me nicceee. Like not drunk but just feel good. I said I would stop drinking cognac and vodka type and just stick to wine, even when I go out to the club. And here I was thinking I was making it better by switching.

no no, i'm not saying you're an alcoholic, i have no way of knowing something like that. but from my experience, that amount, esp at night before bed, and as often as you're saying, is right there with alcoholic behavior. and um, without saying too much, i have extensive knowledge about this subject. :guilty:

but seriously, switching to another alcohol isn't "better" in terms of anything. like if you had a 3 glasses of yak or 3 vodka tonics instead, the calories would be just about the same if not LESS than one bottle of wine.

Well I wasnt think in terms of calories when I switch my alcohol of choice, more so about the feeling afterwards. I don't like being drunk, but I like a nice buzz and wine did that for me. And yeah, I do drink every other day. I have a glass with dinner and then a couple more. By then, I have a buzz and I get sleepy, not that I do it to sleep but thats normally how it happens.

that could be as much as about 450 calories or so. if your trying to slim down, probably not the best idea. if thats not your concern, you may become dependent on alcohol to fall asleep. and yes, it does happen. after i graduated, and quit drinking like a moron, i couldnt fall asleep for several weeks, and when i did, the quality of sleep was terrible. and eating for the first time at 2 pm isnt the healthiest thing either.

this is coming from someone who never ate breakfast, and drank myself into a stupor for years...

oh, and a magnum is 1.5 litres
