I go to the gym 4-5 days a week and i get mildly to moderately sore from my workouts....cause the muscle is breaking down or whatever and building back up....
But howcome when I play a pickup basketball or football game with my friends once in a while I get MAD sore the next day(or few days).....mostly in my legs and ab region....

If I workout on a consistent basis why am i gettin sore when i play bball or football once every few weeks? damn sometimes its so bad i have to take a few days off from the gym cause i cant walk!!!.....
if im in such good shape i shouldnt get sore from that right?

you wouldnt get sore if you played ball every day like that. your body isn't used to it. the most simple answer i can come up with.

your working different muscles more is the obvoius answer i can think of. also in a differnet way, when your weightlifting its short bursts, but basketball is like an endurnace kind of workout

There's your simple answer. You're also working different muscles.
