JUICE CREW Movie Update...

According to the websites eurweb.com and blackfilm.com, Cuba Gooding Jr. will head a quintet of actors set to play in the Juice Crew biopic The Vapors.

Gooding will assume the role of Juice Crew founder and producer Marley Marl, while David Banner will portray Biz Markie. Idris Elba, who is widely remembered as Russell "Stringer" Bell from HBO's The Wire, will play Tyrone "Fly Ty" Williams. Meanwhile, Evan Ross and Jackie Long, both of whom had starring roles in Chris Robinson's 2006 feature film ATL, will play MC Shan and Big Daddy Kane respectively.

KeKe Palmer and Clifton Powell will play the roles of Roxanne Shante and DJ Mr. Magic. Filming is still scheduled to begin in January of 2008, with Furqaan Clover directing and Marley Marl, Roxanne Shante and Big Daddy Kane splitting production duties with Indieflimx.com.

No news has emerged on who will portray other members such as Masta Ace, Kool G. Rap, Craig G. or Tragedy Kadafi.

In less encouraging news on the Hip Hop front, Juice Crew member Tragedy Khadafi is serving time at Riker's Island. Miss Info reports, via Tragedy's personal friend and publicist Miranda Jane, that the Queensbridge resident was convicted of a class C felony for criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fourth degree. Such a charge usually carries a maximum sentence of four years, especially since Tragedy (Born Percy Chapman) has a past conviction.
Tragedy, who also recorded under the name Intelligent Hoodlum, made his name as the youngest member of The Juice Crew and is credited for helping to discover and develop Capone-N-Noreaga. Various members of The Juice Crew have been enjoying renewed popularity since news of their upcoming biopic, The Vapors, was released. However, in an interview with MTV, founder Marley Marl reiterated that the cast is still being decided upon, and didn't indicate if Tragedy would be portrayed or not.

wow, that's horrible fukkin casting.....Cuba Gooding as fukkin Marley Marl?? :laugh:, that ruins the whole film.....Cuba is waaay too corny to play that man Marley Marl....not even gonna mention how bad he fukked up that Nicky barnes role in American Gangster......and David Banner's accent is too broad to hide man....Biz Markie sounds very east coast when he speaks and is light skinned.....David Banner is none of those things.....they should think more in depth about those two roles bein played by them two....
