Is it cool to do push-ups everyday as many times as you want? Or should you wait a few hours to let the muscles rest?

Yes. Because those are to diffrent muscle systems.

Fast Twitch and Slow Twitch. Pushup constant pressure bang bang bang like a piston.

Bench Press-Slow pressing movement working against gravity.

Most people who have really high Press numbers can't really do pushups.

I do 95on my apft and I can only bench 315. It has went up since I started crossfit. But I can only do like 255lbs for reps.

I'm thinking about doing something crazy like only working my back, shoulders, stomach, and legs out in the gym and working my arms and chest out in my dorm everyday with that push-up pro.

i got some regular nike push up bars and do about 200-300 on a good night and my upper body is swole but i think that has to do with more of my build and genetics cause my cousin cant put on mass for shieet

Different forms, I think alot folks quit doing one or the other that's why it balances out like that.

Pushup bars are the shiit. I got a pair at home, and when you use them and do a sufficient amount of pushups, you notice the difference instantly in your upper chest and deltoids. Also, diamond pushups are cool. I do like 4 or 5 sets of 40 pushups, and it's a great look...

Far from the truth. Dudes at the gym I workout at can do high amounts of push ups and press at least 350-455 lbs, myself included. I do 5 sets of pull ups, dips and push ups before my weight workout.I understand what you mean but just know that there are heavyweight lifters who can do calsithenics easily.

It took me about 2 months to build up that much endurance and i would rest on the weekends. Just do like i do, hit the pushups during a commercial of a bball or football game and u will be there in no time

This statement couldn't really be any further from the truth. Explain your logic behind such an asinine statement. The only thing I can even think of is a very overweight power lifter.....but their goals are completely different.

And those overweight powerlifter types are also for the most part the most powerful as well. And can't do the amount of pushups of say a body builder or someone who's main concentration is bodyweight exercises.

It't a rather known fact that for example you take a guy like me I max at around 315lbs on my bench press and I also max at around 105 pushups before failure (90-97 on APFT). When I concentrated more on pushups and dips my pushup number increased as my bench press number decreased. Also they increase as my body weight decreased.

If you are able to bench 350+ lbs and still do 120+ pushups in a row you are the exception not the rule.

Plus a whole lot depends on your goals. I don't have a goal to get bigger or faster or anything. I just want more functional uses when I'm out on convoys or kicking in doors which is really rare for me now.

Another thing that I noticed is that if you don't bench press you don't get better at benching regardless of the amount of pushups you do. How ever if you don't pushup you can't pushup as much as you could. They are both relatives with different purposes. Muscular Endurance vs Strength.

What I dare some of you to do is to compare x(Amount of pushups you can do in 2 minutes) vs x(Amount of bench press you and do in 2 minutes at .73 of your bodyweight). If pushups and bench press is the same you should be able to do the same amount. But I doubt it because there two different muscle system factors.

Now as for how asisinine my idea I don't know. But how many pushups do you think is alot is also the question. I care more about pushups+time(without break) or do you guy's just do pushups with rest and continue?

So I think it's healthy to do them everyday even if you lift heavy weights 3 or 4 times a week because it's different type of training. As long as you're eating and getting proper rest I dont think doing push-ups every day is going to prevent your muscles from growing. Or am I wrong?
