its not even close, Lupe's sh*t is WAYYYYY ahead of that American Gangster sh*t, come on. American Gangster is just a solid album, an above average record. Lupe's sh*t though is dope as f*ck.

it's weird cos American Gangster was surprisingly good and The Cool wasnt quite as good as people were hoping/expecting it would be BUT i still think The Cool is slightly better

AG...but the cool is the closest thing to it since it dropped, all those leaks last week or whatever have already gotten stale, even the ghostface, styles P, freeway are the only other cats to even come remotely close to AG...and the cool

i rate them both around 4-4.5, AG is great lyrically and very well produced

the cool is more creative, but the beats arent as good as a whole, the 3rd person angle gets a little reptitive so i'ma listen to it again before i settle on a rating, def 4 mics or higher, same with AG

but yea, i still cant stop bumping AG even months after it's release, longest run a CD of mine has had in a lonnnnnnnnnng time, not sure if the cool is gonna have that kind of replay value (F&L lacked in that department too)

The Cool...in just about every category other than a couple of beats...I got bored with AG really fast (Cool being like two days notwithstandiing)...its like I've heard that album 6 or 7 times from Jay already, the whole "regretful, yet nostalgic (ex)crack dealer" thing is kinda whatever to me coming from Hov...like, okay Jay I got the point 10 years ago...The Cool feels like much more an event, more fresh...more current...more imaginative...more creative...more poetic, more inspiring...its like a comparing a really good Nas album to a Jay album...as I've always said...as far as creativity and poetic lyricism in mainstream hip hop, Lupe IS the new Nas

Prolly not his biggest, but yes a big fan no doubt...not sure how that's anyway relevant to this thread, but I'll do my part to somehow tie it in for perspective's sake...

Wayne = new version of Jigga, the new king of mainstream "swagger rap"....

Lupe = new version of Nas, the new king of poetic lyricism and creativity

Nas > Jay....draw the obvious conclusion as it pertains to Lupe and Wayne IMO

also, this would explain a lot as well... http://forums.sohh.com/showpost.php?p=1058617134&postcount=55

actually if you listen to Lupe's style of rap... it's more Jay than Nas. yes he says some things that make you think, but his flow is much more Jay than Nas.

Nas is like Rakim where as he's almost having a conversation with you. He's not spitting like them dude be doing.

His flow/delivery sounds more like Jay than Nas, but that's bout it...I was moreso talking about their respective lanes in the game and overarching creative directions...flow is just a means to that end, but I definitely hear Jay's influence in tha regard...a couple of others too

lupe is the hybrid homie....thats my new name for him, the flow/swag and wordplay of jigga...and the social commentary, content and story telling genius of nas all wrapped up in one

Why you're so pathetic, irrational and prone to fits of rage over anything involving Jay-Z...it was an example of how low you're willing to go, and the hilarity that can occur as a result

And unless you have something to say that actually has something to do with The Cool and American Gangster, this will be my last time responding to you in this thread

how can anybody say he's the best when there isnt a list of all of his ghostwriting credits, let alone a list of credits for every ghostwriter in hiphop history? every is speculating on who ghostwrote what, you cant really answer this question.
and i can care less if you respond to me or not chump. i didnt say anything about the cool or ag the 1st time you responded. i just pointed out the fact that youre the biggest wayne fan on this site. you chose to go the personal attack route. youre still the same geeky ass lil b1tch youve always been, and everytime i challenge something that your stupidass has to say you show it. i just get a kick out of pulling your skirt down.

tied up...i think it's safe to say that these are most likely the top two albums of the year for me, and a lot of people it seems, good thread

i will say that i think the flows from song to song, jay was a little more versatile, lu was trying a lot of flows, some of them came out good, some were ok, but i think verbally ag is more crisp and concise and the production is much more consistent

I love the production on American Gangster, it was a great album.

However lupes album is more 'fresh' to me, its taking lupe to another level musically, while AG its pretty much Jay rapping over soul beats ala blueprint.
