Its not hard to see the appeal...just consider the fact that the overwhelming majority of rappers, behind whatever outward subject matter they rap about...the underlying narrative of most of it is "I'm the coolest/baddest/most gangsta/smoothest/smartest/most righteous/etc. muh'fukka on the planet"...Take Jay-Z for example, it doesn't matter whether he's rapping about Katrina, selling crack, or being a CEO of a record label...the general messege of the song is gonna end up being "I'm THAT dude because...I gave so much money to katrina victims cause I care so much/I sold so much crack and made it out and regretted it caused I'm a great person but still love to reflect on it every change I get/I'm the most successful rapper turned CEO ever"....Joey's underlying narrative is more of a everyday man, lovable loser, the world is against me and unfair, I WOULD'VE been THAT dude BUT....its something that appeals a lot to a certain demographic...especially when so much of everything else is the opposite...he makes a song about his baby mother being a slut or feeling like a underachieving failure and blaiming AB&C...and people relate like "HEY...MY BABYMOMS/EX-GIRL WAS A SLUT TOO...and I'D BE THE MAN IF ONLY AB&C DIDN'T HAPPEN...I RELATE!!!"...that's what makes him stand out as oppossed to other eastcoast punchline types like Fab or a Cass, who don't try to far from that "I'm the coolest/most gangsta" steez
