He's a prime example of a n!gga livin off his name. If Nas was just some random dude and not "NAS" you'd hear zero "best mc alive" talks about him currently. I'm a Nas stan too, dont get it f*cked up, I'm just judging off the music/lyrics as a late (the last couple years). he still has his moments but he only shows signs every now and then, for the most part he lost his aura on the mic, he aint got the glow nomore. Jay-Z >>>>>> Nas for the last 3-4 years, even though Jay been slackin too but not as bad as nas.

money over bullsh1t ~ fire
carry on tradition ~ terrible
where are they now ~ wack, coulda been way better
hip hop is dead ~ wack song
who killed it ~ terrible
black republican ~ fire
hold down the block ~ beat was awful
let there be light ~ fire
play on playa ~ come on now. snoop sounded better than nas, lol, as crazy as that sounds.
hustlers ~ beat is fire and he kills his 2nd verse.
were all impressive

lol @ you just posting the tracklisting like the whole album is dope. there's only like 5 good songs on that whole album, lets be real.

maybe we have different opinions, which is fine

just cuz a beat isnt good doesnt mean im gonna not like the song

hold down the blocks beat was ok to me, but nas lyrics were so great that the song couldnt be bad.
carry on tradition- listen to the shyt he was saying, everything dont have to be something to break the trunk. what do you care more about, what the rapper does or the beat?
who killed it- give me some better concept songs from the past 5 years
play on playa- nas and snoop both murked it
hip hop is dead- shyt was good to me, i liked thiefs theme better though

i pay attention to lyrics more than the beat, so i can get past a lotta that stuff. its just my opinion though

Word! Not sure why you need to make a thread about an artist you feel fell off.

no nas is impressive..just uninspired to keep up with the current time.

HHID was uninspired to me.. i liked only 6 songs.

but the remember the time joint he just did show he got it in him..

he just needs good beats and a good does of emotion (God son he was sad) (stillmatic he was pissed off) to get back on top.

This is just stupid...I'd put Black Thought ahead of him lyrically right now. Blu from Blu and Exile is dead nice...even Talib Kweli.

While I agree that Nas is living off his name as is Jay, both still make better music than 90% of artists out. And at some point, longevity and relevance factor into how great you are.

That being said...it's been a minute since Nas dropped a "verbal Intercourse" type verse that was undisputed hot...

What did Malcolm think, split second 'fore he was shot?
Did he think to hit the deck on the floor, before he dropped?
Or did he just say "FuKk it, I'ma die for my brothers"
'Cause by killin' him, just made his words teach others
Like Martin Luther King, he preached peace
They still got him, like the West-East beef
Finally that sh!t is rotten
Place your self in the shoes of a people's leader
From drug kingpin to president, either is off the meter
Your best man can turn to the squeezer
Burn you and leave ya, beside alone on the road
Or inside a meat freezer
That's the way it goes on the third rock from the Sun
Alone circlin' the light where we begun
Where we become, a follower to a general
With soldiers to run, they move off every word of ya tounge
Feelings are ruthless, when you was young pullin' ya gun
Not scared to shoot sh!t, remember it was all in the fun
Is this the power you wanted? Can you control over a hundred minds?
And these are grown men, who've killed over a hundred times
Every champ team has a arch rival
And it takes one time to mess up and *****z don't like you
You start to want peace, niqqaz want you deceased
Your money low, niqqaz want you to go
Who else but I can bring the most hauntin' flow (Nas)
You're soon to see the best of me
From a boy, man, to a king, hear out my destiny

YOU DUDES JUST DON'T LISTEN ANYMORE!!!

Thats true my girl got me that cd last christmas and i thought that all the hype around it was'nt justified, hes been slipping for a while still.

And he really sounds as if he cant be bothered, but then most MC/RAPPERS cant be bothered these days too many sharks lurking in the cut.

Through the lights cameras and action, glamour glitters and gold
I unfold the scroll, plant seeds to stampede the globe
When i'm deceased, by then the beast arise like yeast
To conquer peace leaving savages to roam in the streets
Live on the run, police paying me to give in my gun
Trick my wisdom, with the system that imprisoned my son
Smoke a gold leaf i hold heat, nonchalantly
I'm grungy, but things i do is real it never haunts me
While, funny style *****z roll in the pile
Rooster heads profile on a bus to riker's isle
Holdin weed inside they ***** with they minds on the
Pretty things in life, props is a true thug's wife
It's like a cycle, *****z come home, some'll go in
Do a bullet, come back, do the same **** again
From the womb to the tomb, presume the unpredictable
Guns salute life, rapidly, that's the ritual

And the flow was CRAZY on this verse too.

"surviving the times" sounds like Cormega wrote it with all the qb reminiscing.

i aint heard gun for gun

success is weak compared to what jay was spitting son. Sound like Nas wrote it in 10 minutes. I though he woulda kill it but he let me down.

Instead Of Keep Messing With Salami Remi As His Main Prodeucer He Needs To Fu Ck Wit Les Cause Thats His True Homie From Qb And Always Been His Dj And Gives Nas Nothing But Crack Everytime. He Is Way Better Than Salaam . Nas Needs An Album Wit Beats By Hi-tek,alchemist,primo,large Pro,les, kanye, just Blaze, Street Runnerz, dame Grease, Pete Rock, And Heatmakerz And He Would Deliver A Certified Classic But He Likes To Mes Wit Garbage Niqqas.

damn...I don't wanna agree, but I might have to here...don't really know about Jay being better, but Jay's production has always been a lot better recently.

what's even more sad is that I think i've been slacking off in life too so I am nobody to judge Nas
