View Full Version : Is Andre 3000 from 'ATLANTA' a better MC than Jay Z or Nas from New York ?

After hearing Andre's verse on 'Art of Story Telling 4'.. the verse from 'Everybody' with Fonsworth Bently - soaking in 'International Players Anthem' and then evaluating the whole OUTKAST catalogue... it has to be said that I dont think Jay and Nas have the brain power on a lyrical level to compete from a rhyme pattern perspective or have such a clever thought process.
I mean looking at the Art of Story Telling 4 verse...
Can you name a better effort combining flow, wit and substance from Jay or Esco recently ???
Who past or present is actually better than Andre Ben ?

I didn't really like The Love Below either, but I can easily hear that he held that sh*t down! That's probably one of the best arguments to use in Dre's favor when you're talkin' about why he's the best. The fact that he's always experimenting, trying new styles and exploring other genres takes nothing away from Andre, it just adds extra points to his legacy.

...exactly. Most rappers are scared to step outside the little box they are pigeon-holed into....Dre definately takes chances and brings something different almost everytime. His diversity is something Nas and Jay can't match...they always have to play it safe. Same n!ggas that dogged out 50 Cent saying Curtis was nothing new are the same ones praising Jay-Z for going back to his same old hustler/drug rap shyt on AG.

Prototype, she lives in my lap, spread and she's alive were all great songs. Nothing was wrong with Love Below.
How can he be better when he spends 90% of his time making love songs and picking out costumes for his latest outings?

I'm a huge Outkast fan...and I think Dre is the sh!t no doubt...but no, I can't put him above either Nas (the GOAT, IMO) or Jay...mainly because the depth of catalogs weigh heavily towards my decision, and Dre is automatically handicapped in that regard because he's part of a duo...Nas and Jay just flat out have more material over the course of their careers than Andre does...
Andre is barely better then Big Boi, and sometimes I wonder if he even is...

(feat. OutKast)
[Sleepy Brown]
This is dedicated to the lover (to the lover)
In you... In you... In you
I can't wait, I can't wait
I can't wait, no can't wait
[Verse 1: Andre 3000]
Leather in the summer, silk in the winter
This is such an art, where do I begin uh..
Used to sing tenor, in the church choir
Really I was flexin', but the girls they were fine
I'm the type of guy that notice subtle signs
When I cuddle mine, she ain't even tryin
To look sexy, but even if she was so what
Mother ****er grow up, don't mean to be so abrupt
But that lets me, know that she's a human being
And being human's hard, on the boulevard
Girl you got it bad, glad I'm not one
But yet you got it good, you are the hot one
But I'm Andre, Benjamin Andre to be exact
You hoped to meet a gentleman one day, well this is that
In fact, Dookie introduced at a show
About a year or so ago, I don't know, mind slips me
I'm in the southern states, you know where all the pimps be
Dressin all boogey and carryin' ugly cups
And yes you're getting booed if your **** does not get down
And yes you're getting sued by women who didn't get up
Out their seat on the bus, and feet shouldn't rust
And beat is a must, and we shouldn't lust
But we do, I'm laughin' at the calendars and clocks
Ascot to match the socks, what's in your +Speakerboxxx+
+Pink and Blue+, you're lolly gaggin, you're slow pokin
You got me open, you're playin wit me, darlin I'm not a toy
As if Anita Baker brings the joy, you're a kiner, the Tyner meanin the real McCoy
I can't wait..
Black Ice(Goodie Mob)
Still Standing
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ear drums, it was a beautiful day off in the neighborhood
Yellows and greens and blues and browns and greys, and hues, the ooze beneath dilapidated wood
Anything could explain but pertains to cocaine and sustain in rain
See summer rolls around *****s holla bout change
Then they steady move them keys like Bob James
Cause old man winter‘s arrived, the temperature dived, November just died, December’s alive
Thus it ain’t no typical rise, just individual’s way to bring home,
The bakin when bakin was all wrong, Makin it our own, takin me all wrong
We’ve all indulged in the bulge of those no no no’s, you ain’t solo
It’s even lower level you can go, take sun people put em in the land of snow
And to top it off...........
Thought Process(Goodie Mob)
Soul Food
The thought process...
Now as an Outkast I was born, wasn't warned of the harm
That would come to meet me like Met Life, but yet life
Done sent me through a lot of up's and down like it ain't nothing'
Like elevators but I ain't the one that's pushin' the buttons
I got off at the 13th floor, when they told me that it wasn't one
They said it skipped from 12 to 14
Still smoking, still drinking, no I'm sittin' on the Lincoln
4 A.M. thinkin' that in reality the world is like a ball full of playas
We trapped off in this maze with walls made of layers
And only prayers is the tightest game that you can have
The devil's takin' a swing that might explain the broken glass
But my crystal ball see the pistol fall to the wayside
Nobody would die in cops and robbers when we used to play right
Huh, the only thang we feared was Williams, Wayne
Never though about hittin' licks or slangin' caine
Didn't think I'd be the one to give in to abortion
Label me murder because my ass is scorchin'
Hot from the glock that sits under my seat
Yeah, it's real ****ed up that my floks come to get me
And it's like dat, yeah...and it's like dem!

while we rantin and ravin bout gats
***** they made them gats
they got some **** that'll blow out our backs
from where they stay at
Hootie Hoo
Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik
[Dre:]
Now playin these *****es is my favorite sport
But ain't no game when they be callin your name in the court
Oh, it's Saturday night, I guess that makes it alright
Got an obese twenty sack, fully packed, it's so tight
That it's bustin out the seems, yes sir, I'm set
Oh, but let me tuck the 380 before I jet
Hops off in the Lac with Big Gipp, you got a light (Hootie Hoo)
Communication device off when I writes
Should I answer the call, yes, I'm mackin 'em all
We met 'em up in the mall, recall Player's Ball
Well, it's Player's Ball 2, so I guess I'll call you
Later on, and then your whole crew can fall through
Now later on done got here
I takes a peek, now let me see, what do we got here?
Draws, fallin down like *****z in a drive-by
I got up in them hoes and I told 'em bye bye
About two weeks later, she called me with some bull****
Talkin 'bout her period late, guess what I did
Click
Naw, it couldn't be me. Not me
"Skew It on the Bar-B"
(feat. Raekwon the Chef)
Aquemini
[Intro/Chorus: OutKast]
Old school players to new school fools
'Kast keep it jumpin like kangaroos
but skew it on the bar-b we ain't tryin to lose
Say 'I be got damnit they done changed the rules'
[repeat 2X]
[Verse One: Andre Benjamin]
The common denominator, the ***** numerator
Never know who the hater, *****z cater to your ego
I'm sorry like Atari whose the cousin to Coleco.. Vision
caught a Rico, back on the street like Chico.. DeBarge
he large and got a 'Llac in the garage
Few parts here and there, I declare hard, my lawd
One at Clark, one at Spelman
Both know each other and it's cool, you can tell when
he step off in the party women jump for joy
But all the wild *****z scheamin they gon' jump the boy
for spittin all that bourgeoise, my watch, my car
I'm a star -- I'd rather be a comet by far -- rrrahhh!
"Humble Mumble"
(feat. Erykah Badu)
Stankonia
[Andre 3000]
Too Democratic, Republic **** it
We chicken nugget, we dip in the sauce like mop and bucket
Blue-collar scholars, who'll take your dollar and wipe my ass wit it
You living for the lotto never hit it, I met a critic
I made her **** her draws
She said she tought Hip Hop was only guns and alcohol
I said "Oh hell naw!" but yet it's that too
You can't discrimahate because you done read a book or 2
What if I looked at you in a microscope saw all the dirty organisms
Living in your closet would I stop and would I pause it "whoo"
To put that ***** in slower motion, got the potion and the antidote
And a quote for collision the decision
Is do you want to live or wanna exist
The game changes everyday so obsolete is the fist and marches
Speeches only reaches those who already know about it
This is how we go about it
Gangsta Sh!t
Stankonia
[Andre 3000]
Outkas wit a K, yeah them *****z are hard
Harder than a ***** trying to impress God
We'll pull your're whole deck, **** pulling your card
And still take my guitar and take a walk in the park
Any play the sweetest melody the street ever heard
Now *****es sucking on my nouns and I'm eating their verbs
Get full, and *****z, *****z,
pop, pop, lock, lock to the, to the beat, beat
As if pitbulls went out of style, made a vow to myself
If it's for the wealth i'll stop, well put i like this
It's like me selling some dope because my girlfriend wants to shop
Wrong reason, whatever the season, hey winter, spring, summer or fall
I dont stall, slow drag wit your brain against the wall
Yeah, ***** naw, we learn to the side don't fall
All y'all **** boys, tuck toys inside your pants
Just to pull it out, point it at the ground and make a ***** wanna dance
Now what that be for, you're on that reefer and on that Tupac
In front of them oooh wops, trying to show out, that's the hoe route
Talking loud talking bout that's gangsta ****
"I Can't Wait"
(feat.
