View Full Version : AZ is better than NaS LYRICALLY....

AZ's affiliation with Nas kinda hurt him because he's always been in his shadow.

Nas is a great poet and storyteller, and has AZ beat on that note, BUT when it comes to dropping lyrical verses, AZ has him beat. Dont make me post lyrics either lol.

I won't deny AZ's ability but any dude who incorporated schweppervesance into a song more than twice is not better than NaS.

okay ill start out with one of his most classic verses, and he shiited on nas lyrically on this song, theres no denying that

Visualizin the realism of life and actuality
**** who's the baddest a person's status depends on salary
And my mentality is, money orientated
I'm destined to live the dream for all my peeps who never made it
cause yeah, we were beginners in the hood as five percenters
But somethin must of got in us cause all of us turned to sinners
Now some, restin in peace and some are sittin in San Quentin
Others such as myself are tryin to carry on tradition
Keepin the schwepervesence street ghetto essence inside us
Cause it provides us with the proper insight to guide us
Even though, we know somehow we all gotta go
but as long as we leavin thievin we'll be leavin with some kind of dough
so, and to that day we expire and turn to vapors
me and my capers-ll be somewhere stackin plenty papers
Keepin it real, packin steel, gettin high
Cause life's a ***** and then you die

Luce Cipher
11-15-07, 10:24 PM
this was the verse that made me a beliver...his flow was incredible on this as well

Life is a struggle, that's why *****s I know stay on the juggle
Some hustle to double, others hug you to mug you
Poverty-stricken, they even turn a church kid into stickin
It seems sickenin, but what? Whatever makes the pockets thickin
**** police and no remorse for the beasts
that's lost on the streets, that pistol whip a priest for a crosspiece
Some lost sheep, runnin thru strips, thinkin of top dealers
Fillin Tek clips, wit 'cop killers' that could stop gorillas
Shovin a stubnose in buttholes, I'm nutso
skitzo, clepto, killin **** up throughout the metro
My thug essence will always keep me plugged with drug investments
Sketch my reference, takin papers considered preference
And violations will lead to kidnappin, decapitation
So what you're facin, is realism that's in activation
Livin off land with five honeys playin my hand
Me and fam, sippin off Guinness stout and eatin clams
It's all part of plans, a vet chillin in Tamps, West and Stans
Outta state connect, slugs, sex, drugs and grands

third verse in "the format"...just read this **** back to yourself, **** is too crazy...

Learnt the system, burned some izm
Tied all my jewels down like journalism
How I maneuver now it'll merge the wisdom
A pilgrim, prophesize putting words to rhythm
Relating, I'm adaplating it, manifestation, patient, meditating with the
manner who's waiting, pacing
like an m-8 that sealed his fate
let some years escape but I'm still in shape
I'm chilling deeply rooted
A beast with music, from bedstuy to the east I'm to at peace to lose it
But love it, I still does it
Breathing off a trump budget
Fresh out of bloomies with the Louie luggage

the flyest, another collab in which he outshined ya boy nas

Follow, I'm like a Lamborghini green Diablo
Coupe VT, it's like DVD when I flow
Feel me, I'm loved like the great late Malik Sealy
The one the player haters hate dearly, but can't near me
Homicide can't scare me
I o-bide by the laws of these streets sincerely, a real *****
The type that can build with ya
Verbalize bring life to a still picture, it's God-given
Been blessed with Allah's vision, strength and beauty
Truly my only duty is to dodge prison
Play wit me, I'm modest 'til them strays hit me
Regardless the circumstances I'ma stay filthy
Dough forever, the live stay low forever
And **** *****z, cause it's hard to keep them close together
One dependant, no wife, one co-defendant
No forms of weakness, I flow with vengeance

so it's gonna take more than your astrologist
to knowledge this
a physiologist couldn't even figure out the exoticness
raps demolishing certified the way I style it
my wordplay blaze with the rays of ultraviolence
my culture's smiling, getting more in depth with each breath
my biography follows the footsteps of Malcolm X
money and sex, Gore-Tex Donna Karan and Guess
finesse, success through the life
stress mics I blessed
puffing trees to get me high as trapeze
flipping Japanese at ease when I'm stacking G's
so let's discuss, plus degrees
how the rhyme forces the source for thoughts that's lost
so don't cross cause it'll cost
the ghetto savior, smooth, the real playa with flavor
moves be major
with unexplainable behavior
the word's on the street so keep your ears to the concrete
[why, why, why I'm rather unique]

and that ain't even the best verse on that song

I just tried to transcribe the first verse of AZ's new song "Life On The Line" but I'm havin' trouble with some of the lines. Anyone know what he's sayin? Here's what I've got:

From them brick tenements to them cinema flicks
So many quick night caps it's hard to remember some chicks
Flash backs to certain cats in a similar mix
Sent home through the semis, such sinister sh1t
? ? ? in any event
Them hot shells ever hit me just tell my sons gently
Simply, I'm a rider I provide for the fam
A DaVinci with the smarts, heart of 'semite Sam
Empty I am but my subconscious so in tune
Love the narcist, they harmless, they know I'm immune
I'm a goon, geared up, properly groomed
? ? ? ? ?
From the womb to the tomb it's a bottomless doom
You pop sh1t outta pocket I'ma pop your balloon
? ? ? ? ?
See, some they know the half but here's the whole story...

Luce....dont bother.

Everybody knows AZs flow is impeccable, his flow is amazing and his talent was way ahead of his time.

Posting z-share dont do justice either.
At the end of the day people just like Nas better I guess.

Whats wrong with that? ...AZ is top 20 dead or alive.

My favorite AZ verse of all time is the second verse on Rather Unique

"my verbals rip ****, queens give birth to dwarfs and triplets
**** it I'm on some flip **** ready to let my clip spit,
dramatical, vocals release shells like automatics dp
music's magical causing any tattles to be tragical
child, got a style sick as hell sicker than sickle cell anemia
slaughter your story, gory like lukemia
filled with larceny, who want parts of me? I'm vicious, mad malicious
cause it's real on this road to riches
I got this mastered, other rappers'll craft it
weak and wicked camoflauged as killers how they speak and kick it
peep this uniqueness nonbelievers I'm leaving speechless
left to chokers and skunk smoke was coming through the speakers
surgically nice with any verbal device trife,
breathing life into mics my insight's beyond the twilight
so die, fight, no surrender, no retreat techniques speak
I'm rather unique"

his flow in the middle of that verse is amazing

When you read that vese, it makes absolutely no sense at all.
Its just him playing with words, and it showcases his lyrical ability, the way is flowed it is great.

A verse of Doe or Die thats some real sh*t is "Gimme Yours"

"its hard to show resistence, when money gettin n*ggas need my assistance
and stack figures, beyond non existence
f*ck keepin my distance ...."

and so on, AZ went IN in that beat. Nas singing the hook lol

Nas basically sh*tted on Sosa
and AZ said its not even likely them dudes will do another SONG again

Its unfortunate tho.

A Nas/Jay-z/AZ album sounds dope.

Get mega some shine ...lol ...yeah.

I know Nas is better all times, but seriously the last two albums or so if you ask me which I played more or liked more..... I liked AZ's last few more, they got alot more burn form me and I am a huge fan of duke. I think I might like AZ's music more, mainly because of his ear for production, it's better easily IMO.

It had a couple gems (I am The Truth, Rise & Fall, Animal, The Format)
Too many average songs
and one WACK SONG I still cant believe he did (w/e song it was came after Animal)

verdict = HHID

A.W.O.L was great lol....better than Streets Discple atleast

Even if you think Az's verse was better, you can't say he shiited on Nas on "life is a biitch". I don't understand why some people say that. Have they listened to Nas verse? It was as good if not better than az's.
