this is typically true if its a new workout routine but after a few weeks your body gets used to it

The soreness is normal in the beginning, but if the soreness lasts for long periods then you're working out too much.

You won't always be sore following a workout, but it doesn't mean you did nothing in the gym. I know for me, when I strength train I'm almost never sore the following day even when I'm on a once-a-week routine.

not saying it means you did nothing, im sayin maybe it wasnt enough?

like i did squats on friday (3 days ago) and im sore to the point where i can barely walk. but my thighs ballooned over the past few days

i always got the sense that if your not a little sore, your body is just too comfortable with your workout and you coulda pushed harder for better gains

Not true. i think it depends on your bodies ability to recover. However I know sometimes I am sore and sometimes I'm not. I think it depends more so on Diet, Rest, and activites. Now I do get DOMS every blue moon they creep up on you.

when i started working out i was sore for a few days after every part i worked out for the first time. after about 2 work outs of each zone you shouldn't be getting sore. or at least your goal shouldn't be to make sure you're sore the next day. but when i was on vacation for 3 weeks and then broke my arm just after i got back i didn't work out for about 2½ months and when i first lifted again after that i sore as fuqq.

Stands for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, usually happens 24-72 hours after working out. Its basically the soreness and tightness felt in the area that was worked. You won't always experience it, but it does occur on occasion.
