what impact did Salt N Pepa have, Old Head?
not saying they didn't, just want your explanation.
wait... so just because they blew up and got spins now equates them having a bigger impact?
impact on what?
MTV video playlists?
or the descendant generation of the 90's that was hugely centered upon hustle themes and braggadocio with tons of rappers coming out doing the SAME thing that them niccas did in the 80's
how are we gauging impact... how are we calibrating it

1. They were the first female group to have an album (even Roxanne Shante and MC Lyte didn't have albums before Salt N Pepa) So they are similar to The Beastie Boys in that respect.
2. "Push It" was huge, it was a certified gold single. MTV played the video before Yo MTV Raps. KRS and Rakim had videos at that time, but MTV wouldn't play them.
3. Salt N Pepa made songs from a female perspective like Expressions or Lets Talk About Sex that reflected a female point of view. They were really the only females to make it big time in that era (late 80s, early 90s)
4. They have several gold/platinum albums

Well, I don't have links but
hot cool and vicious is 4 mics
A Salt with a Deadly Pepa is 3.5 mics (there's a few bangers, but a few unbelievably wack songs)
