I am a personal trainer. I see that there are plenty of questions in this forum and I want to answer. Fire away. Any other trainers out there, or gym fiends, help some of our brothers/sisters out. Let's hear it......

I'm trying to gain mass and I just started about two months ago. These first two months I was doing a lot of reps and sets with low weights to get my body used to the rigors and idiosyncracies of weight-lifting and to practice perfecting my form. I'm ready to take it the next level now. What exercises do you recommend and how many reps and sets? And is going to the gym 4 times a week excessive for a mass gaining routine?

is it bad for my liver????All depends on how much you drinking. My advice is you should leave that shyt alone and just eat food. It's better results
is it better to do bulk/cut cycles or to gain muscle slowly while keeping fat off? Both ways are good, but it all depends on ya body type. I suggest you do a little bit of both to see how it works out

I suggest you do pull ups and push ups. Both are must have if you want muscles and cuts. As for the gym long as you split up your routine then you are good. Like working on ya abs two days and chest 1 day etc

Killawill,
Right now my routine is like this:
day 1: legs
day 2: Back, triceps, biceps
day 3: Chest, shoulders, and traps
and I know it's wrong but I work out the abs everyday and I'm actually seeing results. And I lift on a 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off split. And right now I do three sets for each exercise and my goal is 10 reps but I settle for 8 sometimes.

You are good. Only two things you need to do.
1. I know the more you work on abs the better it gets, you have to give them a rest. You work them too much then it tired you out the next when you need to work on something else. When you work out you may not notice, but you are using all the parts of ya body and if ya abs are sore then it will affect your workout.
2. Never settle for less. Always go that extra yard cause if you don't then you will have that mind set of giving up early.
Remember Failure is not a option.
Otherwise then that then you are good.

No, you should be fine. It also depends on the weight gainer, but most of the gainers on the market today are fairly safe. Just make sure that you are the type that should be taking weight gainers. Some people who take the gainers are people that can gain just by adjusting your diet and can end up getting too many calories and get a little heavy. If you are in a spot where you can't gain and has a real high metabolism then go for it. EAS Mass Factor is a good gainer if you are willing to spend the cash. At the end of the day though, you should look to up your caloric intake by eating good food. Whey protein/high protein post workout and high carbohydrate pre-workout will usually do it. A slow digesting protein like those found in Muscle Milk are good before bed. Start eating playa.

Gain the muscle slowly unless you are bodybuilding. If you hit a plateau then go for the cycle to jump start your body.

Good advice. The abs do need a rest, you use trunk muscles like your abs with a lot of exercises. Try doing tri-extensions with sore abs and you will find out real quick that you need a rest. Also, don't forget to pay attention to your lower back, especially if you are concentrating on abs. Also, when you do abs, do them in the middle of your workout. Like if you are doing a tri/chest day, in the middle of the workout, say between the pec-deck and overhead tri-extensions, throw in the ab workout.
Never settle for less is the best advice period.
