Primo
Dr.Dre
Kanye

Only people on that list who you can even think mess wit RZA. For like 3 years he produced str8 classics. He does soundtracks now! How he ain't top 5? Nighaz was souped Primo did beats for Christina Aguelira... RZA does soundtracks! Only other rap producer who does those is Dre.

I know Em dont deserve mentioning as far as producers are concerned, but I mean damn he did kinda force himself on us as a producer right? If there was ever a producer who was beyond azzcheeks, its Em. I hate to say this but, he wanted to be accepted as a producer so bad that, unfortunately now I view him as more of a horrible producer than one of the great emcees.

Please don't think about it anymore...... Just throw on the first set of solos or 36 and Forever and realize dude produced CLASSIC ALBUMS.

Gzas 1st (2nd)
Wu-tangs 2 first (3 cds)
Odbs First

Are all fuucking classics, production wise they are mad.
And that is 8 classic cds within 93 - 97. how can he not be in anyones top 10, better yet top 5. The only dude who has got as many classics are dre and premo

Funnily enough RZA didn't have the best beat on that album

So a new instrumental CD has to do with all times now? The work he has done should count toward this one as well you think Vocab?

I agree with this thread.. and I'm in the minority of people who prefer post-Forever Rza to pre-Forever Rza. But I would never put him in front of Dre, PR, Premo, Tim or even Havoc. At this point, Just Blaze is another one I consider better. Maybe Dilla, too.

Rza = top 10

Pete Rock
Qtip/Ali Shaheed
Jdilla
Madlib
Dre
Kanye West
Jermaine Dupri
Buckwild
Timbaland
Hi-Tek

The only 2 names that I can have a serious discussion about on that list is Dre and possibly J-Dilla. If you want to bring up Dupri's R&B sh*t then I gotta bring up Rza's film scores.

Hi-Tek is above Rza? Madlib is above Rza? Are you serious? Kanye, who admitted he more or less stole Rza's "chipmunk" technique, is above Rza? Pete Rock, who ain't had an album out in 5 years, is above Rza?

You didn't really think that list out too much did you?

Fred.

Ok I exaggerated, it's been 3 1/2 years.

Even so, you're putting that one album above "BOAP", "Afro Samurai", and all the random beats he did like "Fatal", "Chamber Of Fear", "Brutality", "The Glide", "State Of Grace", "Presidential MC", etc.? That Pete Rock album is cool but it ain't all that....

pete rock fell off 1000 years ago aka after the FIRST Soul Survivor (the 2nd was weak)

I ain't heard a classic beat from him since the mid 1990s

Rza still puts out classic joints (not as much as he used to)

Some of those are reasonable, but Dupri no way. Buckwild is dope but doesnt have near the total body of quality work or the classic albums that Rza does unless you count like the bulk of Word...Life.

To me RZA is incredible. The most original sampler ever to me other than maybe Dilla. My top 5 goes:

Dre
Preemo
Dilla
RZA
Pete

Pete Rock aint been shyt in years man, since what 98? That shyt was cool but damn all times as far as produced albums go Pete Rock and CL have no album like Linx or damn Liquid production wise. Pete Rock is a legend, but fell off eons ago man.

Lets get real here he made cool albums with CL Smooth and great beats on albums here and there, but he never had the resume on ALBUMS RZA had...... Thats just a fukkin fact, period end of story and CS your post.

RZA is most likely top 3 of all time. The threadstarter is entitled to his opinion, but everybody else in the world disagrees with him.

sorry, but Im not feeling Just Blaze.

his tracks sound too poppy in a New Jack Swing sort of way

RZA is top 3 IMO. Produced FAR too many classics to be keepin him out of at least top 5.

Dupri? Madlib? Dilla? Hi-tek? Nah, they aint on his level. (Especially Dupri).

I gotta ask why NO nyggas in this thread mentioned Sermon or Havoc though? Nyggas always sleep on them two cats.
