Hey... someone asked me to make a Pete Rock type of beat recently... so I gave it a try, even tho I don't know his style that much, only heard a couple of beats here and there... does it sound like a Pete Rock beat to you?

The one called "Feel The Force", 5th in the list

drums bang nice

the piano is too thin tho..It doesn't sound natural. I would pick one with more undertones and noise

nice beat tho

thanks for the comments guys... and yeah about the piano, I actually tried to "diminish" the quality to make it sound dirtier... maybe I should have made it dirtier tho... anyways, thanks again

the beat is real cool man... it doesn't sound anything like pete to me. i'm a pete stan.

a "pete beat" needs bass stabs... obnoxious bass stabs. then you need horn stabs, add reverb and kill it over the hook. you gotta sample for the main portion (possibly piano, maybe horn)... if you don't use vinyl you gotta get some vinyl sound to grimy it up.

you gotta chop up a break for the drums too.

this joint is ill though.

peace!

ps i wish i could do pete's bass lines.
