Hey Joe,

man,.................i thought i was gon get this hard a55 drug tale from this AG album, and i didn't.

this is like the biggest let down, on a street album ever.

i don't wanna hear no bunch of rambling introspective tracks, where he ignores the seventies actual vibe of the sh!t.....i wanna hear some hard sh!t.

i thought this was american gangsta.

nothing is gangsta on this record, or hard enough for me to consider gangsta.

art barr

this album doesn't put jay in that same cold hard dealer realm as i thought this album would,.........nor the image he portrayed on RD.

the way AG opens up, i would have thought this album would have some violent connotations to it, and express a story to explain it,.....plus some mathematics on the numbers and all that. this album didn't do that, plus he made another album it ain't no hard sh!t on. the hardest joint on this is say hello, and that is a amil vol ii kinda rehash, that was never that great in his lineage of jay female collabs. plus, it is a down south rehash, to begin with that is just structured like a jay joint but bitten to good hell.

not feeling this one, because it don't live up to the movie. nor the image of jay i thought would be cemented with this release.

this sh!t don't go hard, at all......................for me.

if this was a record that just came out and i was looking for a jay introspective album,........i would be pleased. but to be honest i don't look to jay for being all humble sounding. i listen to him to be a cold hard herion/coke dealer, turned mean business man.

dude, let a n1gga down iwith this record as it was intended. but i guess you finally get a full record of him goin indepth on some issues that was a mystery.

but i still feel like i got stiffed on what was advertised.

art barr

American Gangsta is the same type of jay album that he started making when he relaunched with BP. i was hoping to get some songs to outdo:

show you how to do this
imaginary player
or

u don'tknow

i didn't get none of that, or a full version of Dead pres iii.

damn,..........i know that but i was hoping someone would actually give me a rap record come true, this time........especially now, lyrically on some gangsta sh!t.

i hate to say it but,.........i thought this was supposed to be the record where jay kinda purges the game from n!ggaz who really don't rap well, but do drug records.

now,..........because he ain't make no street records on this boi, period.

i gotta go back to being a prisoner and gettin my fix on some hard a55 phuck everythang type dopeboi sh!t, from n!ggaz who don't really rap well.

i thought i was gon get this definitive dopeboi album, that i could replay over and over again, with these real life tales and i didn't.

this n!ggaz pullin bait and switch on motherphuckers.

american gangsta my a55.....................

I feel you. It's like dude refuses to conform to anything. He won't make generic wack sh!t or generic dope sh!t.

I was drunk at my dudee's crib the other night and we listened to it on the PS3 and i'm like, "i'm drunk and high as fuk but this is almost TOO laid back" and son agreed and added that he'd prolly make the same type of sh!t if he was in the same financial position.

That brings up a question.

What's the hardest sh!t ever made by a truly rich MC?

that is why i liked the grimey dunn language sh!t on fiddy album......i haven't biten into the gunit 25, that much to have anything i bump like crazy yet.

i don't know why either, but probably what it is, is..........i feel i'm getting stiffed by these so-called ex-hustlers.

i ain't getting that hard simple sh!t from them with the pengame. fiddy even ditched his complex syllable interior rhyming on curtis and i could hear his mic presence slippin a lil. even on i get money on the bridge at the end,...i thought that wasn't mixed or performed well.

i just don't think i'm gettin the best possible work from dudes......plus after hearing the percee p record. where he basically delivers on records with a style that was supposed to not be able to spit what he spit on that record. i just feel that, a lof the sh!t i'm hearing is inferior in content, or on some type of rap skill.

art barr

percee p using what is supposed to be an outdated updated style and killin
sh!t, years after the fact, and taken years to make it....then i go to hear these vets who supposedly figured out the formula years ago, and had success, and that sh!t is inferior.

plus, all the cards are in their hands to deliver.........and they don't.

i would have liked for jay to just rearrange some words and have better updated sonically production, and redo songs from his history that were reasonable doubt-ish.......like Dead pres III.

than have to listen to a bunch of songs that are rehashes of songs that aren't his best in his discography. plus all weak sounding beatwise, and he all humble county with it.

plus, some of the songs are rehashes from bB 2, and imo........i can't phuck with that record at all, and for the obvious and various reasons.

that is why i said, in another thread on this sumb!tch that jay should write rhymes, now.

if you so rich and got all this freetime, and you an emcee.

i won't look at you in scrutiny if you writing a rhyme.

art barr

jay need to write a rhyme, and stop the memorization improv sh!t. that sh!t is eliminating his progression, as an older drawing act to make relevent music that the buyin public will rejoice about. n!ggaz don't wanna hear jay introspective sh!t, they wanna hear him surpass his old material and eclipse the supposedly inferior talent that inhabits rap.....instead of just floating in their same circumference like he does now.

my point exactly............i haven't had a jay song, that was heinous and unmercilessly jay since:

show you how to do this

plus, with that song, the mixtape version was better......so in all reality i haven't actually reopened a jay album to replay anything since song number six,........on BP.

art barr

bumps pregame by sauce and jay to hear that real........then goes to get the wax, for a million & one...........for the remix cause i need to purge this soft jay sh!t outta my system.

It's a dope album imo. It missed the boat if it was a conceptual album. Reasonable doubt was the last and only Dopeboi album jay ever did where he was in that state of mind. You have to be around that life to spit that shyt thoroughly. I can smoke drink and chill to AG. Blue magic and Say Hello are the Hardest tracks on the album. Outside of those tracks hello brooklyn and success everything else is laid back and introspective. I haven't truly gotten hype off a jay track since U Don't Know. Since Blueprint his music has been more introspective than hard.

Yep. Basically in a nutshell thats what he is. lol. Funny thing is that most critics wanted this type of rap from him in the late nineties prior to blueprint.

yeah,........i know, and you know what no one still will place him in his rightful category.

he is an emo rapper, along with slug and the rest of them.

imo,.........they still are better at it, as well.
